You all mock, but my valve issue is not minor. It stalls/hesitates/stutters with regularity. I have gone thru the rounds with repairs, it gets better for a few thousand miles, and comes right back.
I have almost been rear-ended a few times becuase of this issue. For those that mock Ford quality, your not too bright. All cars have issues, no manufactor is exempt. For me it was BMW with shotty quality. BMW as of late is not known for quality when it comes to their fuel systems and electronics. For those of you who have had no issues, good for you. Not my case. Those who are quick to judge, should get the facts before assuming. You know what they say about assumptions. I take back my statement on most being good peoples here, it seems that most are only good when there is nice things to say about BMW, anything negative and not so much. The select few in here who offer words off good luck, thanks. Oh, and the "Found on Road Dead" comments, REALLY?? that is so 80's. I don't hate the M3, it is a great car (when functioning properly, a jack of all trades, but a master of none type car). My experience with BMW was not a great one. I now look to the GT500, while not as luxury as the M3, most certainly more performance focused, which is where my heart has always been. If I didn't need back seats, I would still be in a Z06. Good day all.

Amazing how a small problem can turn into a dealbreaker.
Enjoy the Ford, I had a 1991 Mercury XR7 and then a 1999 Lightning and a 2001 Lightning. Fantastic power but the dealership would have been a bad one even in Zimbabwe. My BMW dealer is the best experience I have ever had. They fill me with confidence when contemplating keeping the vehicle after warranty. |

I go with who offers the best products at the time I am looking. At this time for a 4 seater in my price range, that is the GT500. If I had an extra $15K, it would be a toss up between the GT500 and the CTS-V sedan.

I get a Ford Mustang at Hertz sometimes. Drives ok, but would rather have the ///M any day.

I just wanted a quick 'cool' car with a back seat that handled well so I went for the GT500, I would still be in a Corvette if it wasnt for a back seat. So far I like the M3, it was a total impulse buy. I can say its one of the nicest cars I ever owned but if it left me stranded a couple times and the dealer couldnt fix it I could change my mind pretty quick. |

On a different note, I am looking forward to the respect I will get from the Shelby. The M3 (and the 335i for that matter) always brought out the jerks in people. The general public do not like people who drive BMWs. I can't count the number of times I have been cut-off or not let in when changing lanes when driving the M3. While the Shelby demands respect, for one it's american in a time when America can use all the help it can get economically. Also like the Z06 when it first came out, people know what it is capable of and have read the magazines about its capabilities, so you don't have worry about every Tom, Dick, and Harry trying to race you, they just know not to bother.

Yeah, if my blood was that rich and I didn't have a 5yo, that is something I would take over the GT500.
Of course if I didn't need 4 seats, I would choose a used Z06 or a new Corvette GS over the GT500 as well. But the GT500 fits my needs right now for a 4 seater and performance wise.

It's just bad luck for OP. Definitely not nearly a common situation for a BMW.
I had the "dreaded" fuel pump issue on my 335 and it was no bigger trouble than oil change (which you can do half as often on BMW than on most other cars and save a lot of time). It did not change my attitude to brand or car at all. The car as it is requires less fixing and maintenance than most other, much less complex, things I own (e.g. my bikes or even skis). Wanting it to require even less is pointless for me. Having to beg dealer to reprogram the DCT for my M3 was a different story, but still not even close to giving up on the car or the brand. |
