This has been discussed ad nauseum. All the gas in a region usually comes from the same refiner. The differences lie in quality control and the additives that each brand provides.
Go with a brand-name for peace of mind, but do realize that it actually makes no difference where you go. It's also not a bad idea to change the brand every few weeks or so, in order to ensure that you are constantly getting a different mix of additives - which reduce deposits. |

That was back 4 years ago when I used the regular on my e46 Prince and no I felt no difference since driving at high speed and near the red line was very seldom the case only around the RCMP & Police (our Highway-patrol) coffee and donut time However, besides making a joke there just now, I did quite often fill up with super to keep things clean

I tend to stick with Shell or BP. I switch from time to time, mostly using Shell, but going through a full tank of BP from time to time. Always 93 octane up to 10% ethanol. Not much you can do about the ethanol, not that it matters much anyway. Shell V-Power ftw!

Ethanol isn't added until it gets to the distribution terminal. Hence why some stations can buy straight gasoline while others buy it blended.

I've had nothing but issues with Shell gas. Seems to be good on the east coast and a toss up on the west coast.
I use chevron pretty much exclusively, but will use 76 if they are not close by. Shell I avoid at all costs. This is because it put my supercharged 330 in limp mode, as well as a friends M3, and a friends 335, almost immediately after fill up. With Chevron, no issue. On the east coast Sunoco and BP would be my choices - 94 octane of course This is just my experience.

Just to bring this back from the dead. Got the new Shell for 5 card and unlike my BP Visa card, it doesn't get me cash prices at the dual price pumps. And the rebates only work if you fill 45 gallons a month. Looks like I'll be sticking to BP. Hopefully they become a top tier fuel soon.
