I can't help but think without a brake upgrade a bit pointless.

Exactly--a truly functional "track pack," especially one that's that expensive, would include upgraded brake pads, stainless steel lines, and functional brake ducts, as well as an upgraded oil cooler, lightweight 18" wheels with Yoko AD08 or Hankook RS3 tires or equivalent, in addition to an upgraded adjustable suspension allowing lower ride height and more negative camber up front.
