Is this my throttle actuator valves?
Weekend track car that only gets driven every few weeks. Last time I drove it, the first lot of codes came up. Cleared them, then eventually got the second lot of codes on second startup few days later.
Can anyone confirm: is this the TVA I need to replace and is it bank 1, 2 or both? Car seems to drive fine when codes are cleared.. Also thumbs up to BMW for designing a TVA full of plastic cogs & gears, then stick it directly on top of the hot engine!! And they're $925usd, absurd!!!!! |

When looking at all of the codes together it would seem your TVA's are experiencing internal electronic faults, so don't go off just yet assuming it must be because of "plastic gears". Bank 1 only popped up once at first for internal circuit and performance faults. It's not uncommon for these to fail together or at about the same time, but BMW's troubleshooting procedure in ISTA starts you off with inspecting connection quality to the TVA's which is good advice whenever multiple devices start to fail together. It's usually best to replace these in pairs and be done with it.

Bmw of south atlanta and fcpeuro sell them cheaper than $925. I've visited fcpeuro in person and they run an extremely nice operation.
I'd change bank 2 and then see if it works. My bank 2 failed and my bank 1 is still good 8k miles later. |

Thank you! So codes indicate just bank 2?
It's a crappy job because I'm also supercharged so contemplating just replacing both. Interestingly, upon ignition, both banks open and close as they should but when throttle is applied only the left side was opening. Both actuator innards don't look too bad either. Frustrating |

Dean knows better, but from the second reading, it seems like bank 2 is the real issue.
Here's the link to fcpeuro: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...m3-13627838085 Maybe it is better to do both since you track the car. Nothing like going into limp mode on track and having to end the day. |

The first screen shot shows clearly that there was at one point a code stored for bank one but yes, it seems bank two is kaput for sure. Since it seems that bank one is on its way out already, it would be silly not to replace them both while you're in there. Especially being supercharged, with the added labor required to access them...
There is a company I see advertised around here whose jingle is "Fix it once...fix it for good". Seems like solid advice here. |

Paid $640 shipped from FCP Euro and it has a lifetime warranty. Worth every dime as I don't plan on selling this car
