I've seen that video, several times, it's great review of the IS-F prior to the addition of a proper LSD and some, crucial, suspension revisions.

I would like to see a ZCP M3 vs. '11 IS-F, that would be something to really draw some conclusions from.

Thanks again for the link!!

Did you miss the post at the top of the prior page... showing the IS-F's consistently faster from Drag Times... And do you need the latest link from the Car & Drivers Lightning Lap? He purchased a 2011... comparing 2011 to 2011... IS-F is fastest.

Also... My times in my IS-F (with Muffler & air Filter & Tires) is something like 3 SECONDS faster than anyone elses 'M3' on this site at the same track (Auto Club Speedway, California Motor Speedway).

I'm not using times/comparisons from 3 years ago etc...

Also... my IS-F is .3 and 3 MPH faster than my FULLY MODDED M3 was... same track... and I have almost zero mods to my IS-F.

1/4 mile drag races mean nothing to me - please show me links of the new track times for the 2011 ISF. Also i still believe a DCT M3 is faster than the ISF. I had a run in with one on the autobahn a few months ago and at the higher speeds my M3 was faster -fact.

This link is discussing a comparison by EVO magazine from 3 months ago - M3 faster to 60 mph, faster to 100mph and faster at 140mph.................. and around the track - we'll just have to agree to disagree.

I don't mind agreeing to disagree. I like and respect both cars.

Wow, this forum should be called: WhySoInsecurePost.com

I, genuinely, believe that the M3 is a superb, well balanced, vehicle; however I find the M3 fanboi mentality, that plagues this forum, to be entirely pathetic.

Is it impossible to fathom that some other car(s) might be faster than the M3?

These two cars are now so close in times that in the real world on the street IMO it comes down to drivers race for the most part. You can quote magazine times all day long and I can do the same thing and not prove thing.

Last week I ran 2010 DCT M3 on interstate 287 at 2 in morning we ran 1 mile race. I won the race, but did I beat the car or the driver. I think beat the driver he was younger guy didn't have as much experience or confidence in his car or it's ability's he didn't seem to push his M3 hard enough. Did that race prove my IS-F is faster than M3 no it prove I was better driver. Yes it's fun to look at and quote all the numbers but once again what matters for me is the real world in the street were I drive my car 99.9 % of the time.

This spring I'll be taking my IS-F to Limerock Raceway and participating HPDE (High Performance Driving Education) classes. Upon completion of the course I'll be doing time trail runs I can't wait to see what my IS-F can do on track it's just one aspect of the car all long with it's ability to be good daily driver which is equally important since in reality that were my car spends most of it's time.

No, it matched a non-ZCP car on Pilot Sport Cup Tires... it BEAT the non-ZCP car on the same Michelin's.

And again, I feel the car's can be anyone's race on the road course (and clearly will come down to driver)... however in a drag race, and from a roll... it is no contest in 'my experience'.

Peace,
Dave

No - There are plenty of faster cars than the M3 - but IMO the ISF is not one of them. There is no insecurity here, the M3 is widely regarded as the benchmark vehicle in this class - fact, the ISF is a great car as well. When a car comes out that is genuinely better then i will buy it regardless of manufacturer, i am not a fanboi but i will state my opinion on this forum as and when i see fit. This is an M3 forum - go onto the C63 forum and you will get the same responses there.

The LL that C&D did the E92 M3 didn't have PSCs on it did it? Where did you read that? If thats the case I will completely retract my statement. If my reading comprehension is limited right now its due to the fact I have a 101 fever and on cold medicine..so my apologies. However, I think the IS-F is a great car..I just don't like them, I think the standard IS platform looks much better than the IS-F with that goofy exhaust setup. Either eay..I"m just so sick and tired how every opinion has to turn into an argument on these forums. I find it now a complete waste of time...

IS-FAIL

I've beaten them heads up from rolls on the street with my DCT (my friend has one, and he was shocked when I pulled as hard as I did ---> it looked like the 60-130 roll from the "Battle of the Supercars" comparo between the two on Speed Channel), and on the track the M3 will undoubtedly take it as well.

Furthermore, the IS-FAIL has nothing on the M3's interior or exterior. As stupid as this may sound, I really believe it is a "wana-be" M3.

Lastly, please tell me its possible to turn off that beeping at redline between shifts? When I went for a ride in my friends ISF I wanted to rip out the speaker making that nuisance --->

Anyways, of all the cars in its class (m3, c63, etc...) I think the ISF most definetly finishes in last in all categories

Erm, you may be the dumbest kid yet. Facts are facts, you can continue tho live under your rock, but as of 2011 IS-F is greater than 4 door M3. You see the drag times, you see the lightning lap, yet you keep drinking the "I own the greatest car in the world bar none" regardless of what facts are presented.

Amazing

Dave... here is the info on the M3 using the Sport Cup Tires:
http://www.caranddriver.com/features...3a05.4_page_13

Again... I've owned em both... I like the M3, I'm just more of a 'low end' grunt guy... I like Torque... the F does that better in the day to day... and matches the upper RPM pull. And the interior to me is much 'warmer' & luxurious in the F. I may get an M3 another day... but it will be because it's time to try something new, not because I think it's the greatest car in the world.

Amazing

Dave... here is the info on the M3 using the Sport Cup Tires:
http://www.caranddriver.com/features...3a05.4_page_13

Why didn't you buy the C63 then? ISF's max torque is very high up in the rev range and falls off steeply after that - C63 is a torque monster if thats your thing

Ss134, I almost did, it was high on the list, but at 14 mpg, too similar to my m5, & I enjoy driving my car every day. But agree c63 is a torque monster.

And again, I feel the car's can be anyone's race on the road course (and clearly will come down to driver)... however in a drag race, and from a roll... it is no contest in 'my experience'.

Peace,

3:05.4 BMW M3 COUPE LL2 2/10 (cup tires)
3:05.4 LEXUS IS F LL2 2/11
3:05.6 BMW M3 COUPE LL2 11/08 (Stock tires)

So if you really want to compare, then its better to compare the M3 with stock tires with the 2011 ISF. With that, is it really worth arguing about over .2 of a second?!?

M3 with cup tires makes no sense to me. I dont see how those tires on the M3 can only shave off so little, unless February of 2010 was cold where grip was an issue.

I give respect to lexus coming out with their 1st generation ISF and being on par with the M3. Only other company that came close to that is Cadillac with their CTS-V and it took them a 2nd generation to do it. Journalist need to review the 2011 ISF so the consumer can see how much of an improvement they have made over the previous year.

Well said, I applaud your willingness to look at number and different view points. If we can keep fanaticism's down to minmum perhaps we can all gain some useful information regarding these two great cars. Like the rebirth of muscle cars at no time in auto history have there been so may different choices for lower end of high performance luxury car market. 20 years ago only supercar costing over 150k could put down the number our cars are currently doing. I for one would own any of these machine IS-F ,M3 , C63, Z06 GTR, RS4, R8, any 911 variant etc and keep in mind all these cars are within 10k to 25k of each other. I love my IS-F it's fast, rides great, it's unique in the sense you don't see many of them, fantastic daily driver and serves my needs quite well. I know it not everybody's cup of tea but thats cool if we all drove the same thing wouldn't that be boring enjoy your ride what ever it is.
