What rims and Tires are you using for the winter?

Hi Guys,

I have a E90 M3 on order and I'm looking around for winter tire/rim combinations. BMW wants rediculous pricing for their packages, so will opt for the aftermarket.

So far I like the following

ASA GT-5 Rim (18")
BBS CH (18") - only available in 18 x 8.5 +40mm offset = might rub?

Tires: Michelin Alpin PA3 seem to be choice of many.

Any suggestions, pictures or advice is appreciated.
Thanks,
Andy

I've seen a lot of people run VMR wheels 18x8.5 Et20 all around with 245 or 235 rubber on winter tires. I can also suggest 18x9.5 all around with a 255 winter rubber set up as that works as well.

Tire Rack will have combo packages on their website.

FWIW, I went with 235/255x18 staggered Dunlop Wintersport 3Ds. Search the forums here for many threads on benefits of different tires for different conditions. Lots of info to make an informed decision.

OEM 18s. Pick up a used set for <$1k (if you don't already have them). I run Nokian Hakka R in 245/40 square setup. Snowmobile...

This is a nice set-up with the same offset as the factory winter wheels. My first e90 was very happy with 245s on four corners.

I threw Blizzaks on my competition wheels for the winter. They were great up my block which is a hill, as well as my driveway As you know the winter here in NY was pretty bad last year, but taking my kids to school and stuff with those tires was a snap. Id highly recommend them

I'm using the OEM 220M's with 255/275 Conti DWS all-season tires. We don't get enough snow here, and it doesn't stay on the ground long enough, to make snow tires work for a daily driver IMO. The extended snow-free periods take the edge off the sipes and tread blocks if you drive with any kind of enthusiasm and then they're not nearly as good for the next snow. I'm trying the all-season thing (with a truck for serious snow) this time around
