The One That Got Away
I love my M3. But I still yearn for my 00 740i Sport . Why did I ever sell Chick? I must have been out of my mine to let that sweet thing go.
Anybody else pining over a lost love? Last edited by i001947; 03-21-2013 at 02:00 PM.. |

I'm going to be replacing my E39 M5 soon and I know I'll be missing that car once it's gone. I've had it for over 8 years already but it's still a great car. I've been debating to sell the car for a year now and I think it's time to move on.

I miss my 2009 C6 aka "Snookie". It had its flaws, but I got her for $38k with 2,400 miles on it, making her the best bang for the buck I will likely ever score.

My stripper jet black e46 325i 5 spd. It breaks my heart that I sold her for so cheap. It provided twice as much feel as the e90 M does. I was blinded by the comfort at first but the car just has no feel comparatively.
Mods for anyone who cares.... Exterior: Full OEM clears. Full OEM MTech2. SSR GT2 in silver 18x8.5 all around. Interior: Custom OEM style alcantara roof a,b,c pillars and rear deck. ZHP knob. Tasteful boots etc... PERFORMANCE: Schrick 264/248 cams. Ebay rep headers coated. 3.46 diff. Custom AA dyno tune. 184whp on a mustang dyno :burnout: Suspension: Bilstein PSS9, vorshlag camber plates, adjustable rear lower arms. sigh |

Had a torn subframe, leaking fluids left and right (I just kept topping it off ), half the window regulators were shot. But boy did I love the way that thing looked and drove.

I only miss the slightly better steering feel and the 3300 lbs weight my 2008 E92 328i offered. That's it! I'd say fuel economy but I've never had so much fun burning up gas.

No regrets...have fun and move on. Financially, I regret selling a Super Duty Trans Am almost 30 years ago. It would be worth a small fortune today.

No, it was a '74 automatic. I think the '76 model year they mandated the catalyic converter and it was all over for many years.

Me too ! 2004 was mine, one of the first in Canada .
Traded it for the 2003 E46 M3, and she left me one week ago also . Miss 'em both , and also starting to miss the 1M that got replaced by the E92 . Life goes on , the E92 with vorsteiner catback and testpipes = smiles all day !! Oh! And also miss the 2008 VW R32 that me and my ex bought , she kept the volks in the split-up and I kept the STI. That volks had a WICKED fast DCT . Absolutely flawless trans. !

Well, I had a 99 740i Sport and while I loved the car but my bank account did not. After spending $7K in 2007 and $7K in 2008 just to keep up with maintenance, it begins to leak a little oil. Nothing serious - just the valve cover gaskets, oil pan, and front chest. That means disassemble except for the heads - so while you're in there do the chains as well since its got 125K on the clock. The net would have been another $6k to put it all right. I bailed to the M3 instead. Great move as it turned out - so far.

I totally miss my Estoril Blue E36 M3......Loaded it up with Dinan goodies and sold it after 3 years with 16k on the clock. And to make things worse, I saw one yesterday that looked exactly like it with a Dinan badge on the trunk ..............Phil
