YES! and Turn 2! Amazing! The car is extremely stable with aero. I really love that. For guys who like to throw the car around, aero makes the car sorta boring….

Done towards the end of the day during bonus session. Lifted on the Oval to let a GT3 pass me, and didn't realize that it was my fastest lap thus far, lol. Cost me probably a half-second to a second.

If you plan to go on a regular basis, keep an eye on the socal track thread on M3F. We always have a good group of guys going on a regular basis :-)

Next outings are 11/22 at CVR and 11/27 at BRP!

By the way your choice of mods is...intriguing :P Full BBK, sway bars etc but stock suspension? Aren't your front tires getting chewed up? ? At the minimum I'd suggest springs and camber plates!

Weird it should say I have camber plates at -2.5. Yeah, they're still getting chewed up.

I'm not a suspension guru by any means and I've seen examples of people messing up their cars with terrible suspension settings so funny enough I've been leery of suspension mods until I become a much better driver and know what I'm doing.

Went to Buttonwillow today. Nice cool day, but super windy.

This was the first time at Buttonwillow with the front splitter. And it was also the first time I was trying BFGoodrich R1S tires. The car felt GREAT. Really GREAT! So great that I knocked 5 seconds off my previous best!

As many of you know I have driven with Euro-MDM for much of my tracking. Today, with this new setup, I was finally running into the limits of MDM. (I can share the MDM-best time later.) So, I turned DSC off (which I've been practicing) and ended up with a nice result: 1:49.02.

The wind was a factor for the whole day until the late afternoon. When it finally started to settle, I was able to get this result. There is definitely more time to be gained.

I am very very impressed with the whole aero setup, and the R1S tires were great. The car feels very dialed in right now.

E90 M3
Track/course: Buttonwillow 13 CW
Best Lap Time: 1:49.02 (AIM solo DL)
Brakes: AP Racing - Cobalt Friction XR2 front/XR3 rear
Tires: BFGoodrich R1S 285/30/18 square on Apex Arc-8 10.5" (tires on 1st day)
Suspension: JRZ RS Pro
Other mods: VF620, Akrapovic X-Pipe with stock exhaust, RD Sport front sway bar, car is gutted with full roll cage, APR 67" GT-250 wing, carbon lip, APR front splitter, DSC-off

17OCT2015; Speed Ventures Black Group; Session 4.

This was my 4th time on a track and 4th time at Buttonwillow. Looking back on this footage I can see where I can make my lines tighter. I know I can carry more speed through bus stop and use more of the track in that sector. However, this session I wanted to focus on managing the weight balance of the car while trail braking and exiting the corner. My confidence in the car's handling grew as I was able to get more familiar with rotating the car while trail braking. I didn't really focus too much on braking points, especially since my stock pads overheated mid session.

I realized that my pads overheated when I lost brake bite power and I had to slam on the brakes even harder to slow down. The brake bite power I was receiving when I was slamming on the faded pads was about the same bite power I was getting when I wasn't braking as hard on normal temp brake pads, so I knew then that I previously wasn't slamming on the brakes hard enough.

I lost confidence in the brakes after they over heated and started braking earlier than I wanted to. I'll be upgrading to a Stoptech BBK for next time. In the end it'll save me money on pads and rotors than if I stayed with the OEM rotors and a more aggressive pad.

I was glad I was able to get a 2:05 lap time with my stock set up during this visit, which was 4 seconds faster than my fastest lap time during my last visit at Buttonwillow.

Looks pretty darn good for a 4th time!! Not to mention a stock car! Impressive
Good stuff Surewin!

You are carrying some serious speed through those corners! Nicely done! What are you using to collect your overlay data?

I also use Harry's Lap Timer with an external GPS receiver. It doesn't collect anywhere near the amount of data that the AIM collects. But it offers immediate results that you can look at without any downloads.

Wow, no drama at all - just fast, absurdly fast through turns, I love how your car turns in with little fuss on off ramp, and you carry an absolutely absurd speed coming into cotton corners.

Ah- I don't use an external GPS receiver. I can see it's collecting more data than just the HLT alone.
