I actually don't know what it is either but it sounded exactly like the videos posted in this thread (from Op and post #23 by Stronie). Happened this morning, car last driven on Monday. Sounded pretty violent in the enclosed garage.

Well I tried holding the clutch in when I started the car tonight and it didn't do any different. I last drove the car Monday evening. So I'm just going to adjust to it and act like its normal. If like to hear if anyone gets this problem fixed though.

I'll add my voice to the crowd of people experiencing this. Like the others, it's only after the car has been idle for a while, and it coincides with releasing the clutch after a start.
What I find odd is since mine is a daily driver, it sits idle for roughly the same amount of time each night, but I only notice the noise maybe once or twice a week. I'm not due for service 'till early next year. I think for now, I'll hold off and have them investigate then. Otherwise if it increases in frequency I'll take it in early. |

Had the same noise took it to the dealer who changed the vanos tensioners. It did help but I still get it every now and then. If I tap on the brake few times then press it hard while starting the car I don't hear it at all. My car is a DCT.
