Low Battery Discharge

I am always having a low battery discharge warning when starting the car each morning. If I park somewhere and keep only the radio on it lasts about 2 minutes max then everything shits down. Seriously no longer than two mins tops.

I have had this for a couple of months now and trying to hold out to next service but thats not for months.......

Surely my radar and dash cam plugged into the ash tray cant be the cause?

I had an increased battery discharge warning as well. Changed the battery and had it reprogrammed, but I'm still getting a warning. Only thing I can think of is that it may be an alternator issue, or they messed up programming it. Going to get it checked out next week. Will keep you posted

As others have correctly suggested time to change the battery AND have the new one programmed in. Make sure the battery is the same type as there are 2 types used in the M3, it will be likely an AGM type which is expensive and should not be substituted. There are some good shops in your location, Josh at Galvsport is excellent. Accessories won't cause this unless they are direct wired to the battery which should never be done.

Could be a multitude of issues. First thing is to check or have the battery checked. Depending on usage, its often good to use an external charger from time to time.

Two AGM options for programming:
90ah
And a lower setting
--- I think : 70ah

The BMW/OEM replacement is 70ah, less than the 90 ah factory battery.
I suggest you find an aftermarket 90 or 95 ah AGM battery

My battery recently died after about a week of low battery warnings.

I'd been looking to replace it myself and came across all the confusion around the price and coding. When it died, I called BMW Roadside Assist and they replaced the (AGM) battery for $460. Spoke with the mechanic about the coding/price confusion and to quote "you don't need to code if you're replacing with a like-for-like battery". Also confirmed that the stealer price is around $900 and a complete ripoff.

My new battery wasn't coded and has been in the car for a few weeks now with no issues. Save yourself some money and either do it yourself or get roadside assist to take care of it. Avoid the dealership.

I respectfully disagree - you MUST have a new battery 'registered'. This can be done at the dealership but any independent BMW shop will be able to do it as well (probably for less ...). This is why > http://carbatteryaustralia.com.au/20...-registration/

The Carly for BMW app can also register a new battery > http://www.mycarly.com/product/bmw-battery-reset/

There are a few threads on this forum covering this issue.

+1 here Jon, it's required as the discharge and charge rate changes as the battery ages. I agree with you 100% The battery must be "registered" in other words the charging history of the battery is reset so there are no learned charging patterns on a new battery. If you don't register the new battery it will not have the same life.

Also just a handy tip, if you lock your car after you have parked it, it will ensure that all accessories etc are turned off immediately.

Anyone know the best place to purchase a battery and have the programming done in Bris?

Don't need it at the moment but good to know for later
