Cost to repaint rockers and rear bumper?

Hey guys, I neglected to cover the area directly behind each of my wheels with any clear bra material and as a result, I have several small chips back there. It's my understanding that this can't be fully repaired without a complete repaint. So I am wondering how much you guys think it would cost to repaint both of the rockers and the rear bumper (assuming I get it done at the dealership / a BMW certified shop)?

Thanks!

First of all, I wouldn't use a dealership for paint. Most likely they don't do it themselves anyway. For a bumper and the rockers, I am going to guess you'll be at a minimum of $500 depending on how extensive you get the rockers done.

I agree with THE TECH ask your dealership what shop they use for certified BMW body work (all BMW dealerships in larger cities have one they use ~ some of the staff is BMW trained they have BMW certification on the office /reception wall).

Then go there and let them give you an estimate ... I think it may be between $500- to $750- what you will be looking at.

On my 2011 AW I just traded last month I paid just shy of $3K for a rear bumper, paint and the bumper support. The bumper was $1K as was the support that was cracked. The rest was paint and labour ~ $1K ... so my $500- to $750- estimate would be fairly close for you.

Just make sure the shop you use is BMW Certifyed so you will get a good paint match.

Good luck.

We've seen pricing for rocker panel resprays to be from $400-$800. The rear bumper $600-$1200. There is a wide variance with paint work.

Ok, so I guess I'd be looking at anywhere from $1000-2000 total then. I wonder if it would be wise to at least consult with a professional detailer first to see if they can fully repair the chips...

For $2000 you might as well just buy new rockers and bumper pre-painted...

Thought about it - a spot repair will prob cost me somewhere around $500, but who knows how that will turn out. All new panels would prob cost closer to $3000. I may just take it to the dealer and see what they say about fixing the damage / repainting...

Repainting the whole rear bumper and both rockers on a car with 3000 miles worries me a little, but there really aren't any other options I guess.

Not sure how bad your car is but have you looked at the Dr ColorChip kit? At 45k I went thru and cleaned up all the road rash on my front bumper, hood, and areas behind wheels. At 5 ft you can't tell any difference, and it cost $40.

I've thought about the Dr. Color Chip kit, but with only 3000 miles on my car, I kind of feel like I should get it back to perfect condition. I'm not really sure that kit can offer those results.
