I'm running 15/10 spacer combo on zcp wheels with a RD Sport drop. In the front with the spacers and a minor drop you will rub if you go any taller than the stock size. As for the rear 275/35 you may get away with if the tire you choose has skinny sidewalls and 295/30 will most likely have slight rubbing

Ken here is my car with a 285/30/19 rear and 255/35/19 front...very happy with this setup. I would like to run a 275/295 setup but wish the wheels were .5" wider to accomodate them.

It is absolutely impossible for your car to be rubbing with such a mild spacer setup and drop with stock sized tires.

I am lowered just as much as you with 18mm front and 15mm rear with no rubbing with a full car. I can actually do a 20mm front and 18/20mm rear and it won't rub.

I will be keeping the same spacers for the 255/275 combo. If I choose the 265/285 route, I will switch to a 15/12 setup.

I will say this though...you don't want to go any taller than the 255/35 setup as it seems height of the tire means more than width for the front. At 26" tall it is a tight fit for a 255/35/19, however a 275/30/19 size front would actually have been the better fit. Just a 275 tire on a 9" just barely makes the min requirement.

Dave are you running any spacers? I'm planning on 265/35 and 295/30 PS2's with a 10mm spacer in the front. I think I can get away with that setup without issue...even the 285's in the rear looks pretty flush on you car if you aren't using spacers.

I agree with you on that, that's partly my dilemma with choosing 265 or 255 for the front. 275 on a 9 is a not an option for me. Steering feedback and crispness will suffer.

I read your post on the 255 285 setup..for me I wanted to go with as wide in the rear as possible due to the fact I find this car looking for rear end traction all the time, it could be that I am so use to my 07 997S with 11" wide rears and 305s out back the car just dug. I would like to keep the factory stagger of 20mm from front to rear but with a 9" wide front really 255 is it. A 275/35/19 just seems to tall for me at way over 26.6" tall just seems not right to me..hence the 285 for the rear.

BTW, I am so interested in your 02 setup you were discussing on the exhaust thread...please keep me up to date.

Also, you got great taste in color selection..

Dave

The 265/35's will be too tall for the front, you will rub on full lock. With the 255/35/19s I am just a hair away from rubbing. I am not running spacers on my car at all. The rears are pretty flush as you see, the front can definitely go with a 12mm spacer. That is why really with the 9" wide front rim a 255 is as wide as you should go anyway on the front. Yes a 265/30 or 275/30 will fit on a 9" wide rim but you will lose crispness due to the sidewall not being supported properly.

I've got a 275/30 front. Maybe it's the AD08 sidewall, but I don't feel that I have lost much if any front end feel/crispness of turn in. Part of that is also down to the increased level of grip and responsiveness of the Yoko's v PS2s.

I have a 10" rear with an ET-5. It could use more still. 18-20 is far too conservative on a car with such an aggressive natural stance and profile.

'11 AW M3,

Here are some pictures for you brotha. Hope it helps you make you decision!

And just to clarify, there is still room on my car to space it out about 5mm in the front, and about 3-4mm in the rear. I am currently using 18mm front spacers, and 15mm rear on 245 front and 265 rear tires.

That looks great man...do you think it would rub with a 285 out back with the 15mm spacer?

Depending on what brand tire you use, it may and it may not. If you use something like a Toyo T1R or Falken 452, it won't rub at all.

If you use the PS2's or RE050A PP's or something that usually runs wider than stated, then yes it will rub. For the PS2's in 285 out back, i reccommend a 10 or 12mm spacer.

Malek, thank you for the pics and the pm. Now THAT is what I call flush, exactly what I am going for. It didn't work out with the ps2 replacement I ordered (it was a good deal at 40% off retail, slightly used), so I am literally going back and forth between just buying another ps2 replacement, getting all four hankooks in the same size I have right now, or going with the 255/275 vred setup. It is kind of sad that the one ps2 is like more than 50% of the cost for all four of the other two options.

If the vreds came in 285/30/19, I wouldn't even think twice. Do you think if I went with the taller 275/35 vred that I would rub out back with a 10mm spacer?

Dave- I currently have the same setup as you -255 front and 285 rear. I am running a 12/5 spacer setup, and there is definitely more room in the front and rear. How much room, I don't know (but it seems like Malek answered that question). I am going to try the 10mm spacer in the back as soon as I get some free time (unless I replace the tires before then). But from what I can tell, 10mm should be no problem.

275 vred and 10mm spacer will not rub. Go for it IMO.

Malek, I hate to be redundant, but you do think the 295/30 vred will rub with a 10mm spacer right? I know the 255/295 combo isn't a great stagger...

Yea it will rub, especially if you lower it.

However, must of the rubbing will be on the bumper, where its considerably thicker than the quarter panel. Our quarter panels are completely factory rolled, so there is no more room there unless you pull it, but that looks purely disgusting.

The bumper can be slightly trimmed and completely out of sight as far as it being modified.

Malek (and whoever else may be interested)-

I swapped the 5mm spacers in the rear for 10mm, and I am rubbing
Stock height, 275/35 Vreds in the rear...

Is it true the sedans have more room in the back than coupes? I know that another member on here with a sedan said he had slight rubbing with this setup. Back in the e46 days the coupe had a good amount more space than sedan (talking about non-m), so I assumed the same for this platform and thought I shouldn't have any rubbing... Guess not?

In response to the bolded question above: Yes, I believe what I've read on this forum is that the E90 has more room in the rear than the E92. I'm almost positive that I've seen comments about the E90 being able to accomodate more aggressive rear setups. Hope that helps...

I believe there are a couple of mm of difference, ergo, given the findings in this thread, I'm thinking of going:

255/35 + 15mm fronts
285/30 + 12-15mm rears

So I'm thinking of buying the GTS competition wheels and putting them on my M3 (non zcp). I have the stock springs on. Would a 275/35 PS2 rub with a 10mm spacer in the back?

Given the stock springs, I think I should be OK.
