Eisenmann Race: Before & After
A friend and I made an attempt at capturing my newly installed Eisenmann Race in action on my 2008 E92 w/ DCT. It's definitely louder than I thought it would be and will need a few weeks before determining if it's daily driver material. You know how your ears feel after coming out of a dance club? Yah, something like that...
Before (but you all know what this sounds like now anyway): [u2b]<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/v_q1XYBC39s&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/v_q1XYBC39s&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>[/u2b] "Mostly-Cold" Startup. Let the car sit for about 1.5 hrs before: [u2b]<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/x21YFmQNhGc&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/x21YFmQNhGc&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>[/u2b] Obeying the speed limit through a tunnel: [u2b]<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Pe2hYDG542I&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Pe2hYDG542I&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>[/u2b] Drive by, although it probably made more sense in theory: [u2b]<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/TwikInlzZ2c&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/TwikInlzZ2c&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>[/u2b] Bottom line: Awesome, deep sound. Definitely very loud. Drones between 2-3k rpm for sure but drops off at ~3500 (I'll try to upload some more in car sounds for those that want to know about this..). Downshifts w/DCT sound great w/ a nice little crackle, pop (yup, technical terms). Really accentuates a lot of the engine noises I didn't know existed, such as a slight pop between up shifts. Before the car was angry when it wanted to be, but now it is just angry. It'll turn heads and grab a lot of attention. But, one thing is for sure... it'll piss off your neighbors... |

But speeding in the rain isn't very smart IMO. Quote:

i like the sound too except the droning. some are saying it's not droning at all. vendors jumped on my neck saying i'm insulting their space technology product. mine is sport version, same type of sound but more quiet. i think best sound level would be somewhere in the middle with less droning. now you are sure you will draw chick's attention hahaha. enjoy!

Mine is Sport too. I do not have any significant drone issue. Even stock exhaust had a little drone under certain perfect conditions. The Sport is almost silent during cruise. But, under load, it is deeper and healthier. I think people are confused about the drone. I bet any louder exhaust has as much drone or more than the Eisenmann. Name one aftermarket exhaust where 100% of the people say no drone.
I can't imagine why anybody would want something louder than the Sport combined with an Xpipe and high flow cats. It sounds terrific. Quote:

that's strange as mine is droning exactly like op says. keep my dct on 2 lines and power mode. it drones all the time in city driving, from 1500 to 2500 or so. after 3000 is quiet. keeping with all settings at max - 5 lines, max power in m mode there is less droning as car tends to accelerate faster and avoid those rpm's. also if i shift manually can avoid droning or keep to minimal. however, never use manual shifting.
damn the crisis, i should take the amuse ericsson. wait the clips from manilla guy, if it sounds as it looks, will throw this away and start saving for the real thing. hope to be able to switch to p car in the autumn, if not will also go for hre+brembo gt. |

Maybe it has to do with me having an E90 and yours being an E93? Maybe the undercarriage is different and you get some type of resonance. Honestly, there is no additional drone in mine. At worst, there is a db or two extra sound at the same exact "drone" frequency as the stock system, under the same conditions. But there is more sound everywhere so this is in character and not excessive.
Thing is that there is no way that you will have "zero" drone with any of these exhausts. Even the stock has some drone in certain situation. I do not find my Sport to have any additional drone over stock. Just deeper and louder sound everywhere. I would guarantee that all of these "race" systems have a ton of drone under the same situations. It would be impossible not to. Quote:

man i believe you but mine drones so bad that feel a kind of pressure in my ears with top down at idle and then when cruising. exactly, it's a resonance. also feel a vibration in all car that goes to the steering wheel as well. maybe something not tighen properly when installing? or those bad welds i have make the damn thing to vibrate? i thought that all do this.

Something is not right...... That is the main reason you should have returned it. Maybe also check the install. I suppose if it is not snug in the silicon holders it would vibrate. I have never heard an E93 with mods so I can't say if it is normal. I can say I have no annoying drone. And I have freer flow front section too.

I wonder if the E93 is contributing more?
Have you tried top up and down and compared the volume? 80%+ of us all are all E90/E92 There should be no vibration at all, ever, esp in the steering Did your installer skip some isolators on the install maybe or something? Don't think it is the welds, the tips are still held there rock solid I bet. Maybe climb underneath and give it a really good inspection and make sure everything is done right. |

I still cant decide if i want sport or race. Race just gives me chills listening to it in your vids!
But im sure Sport would be better suited for me as a daily driver. |

Thanks! I will take your opinion under advisement and immediately forget it as I am not very smart. Beside the point, I said I was going the speed limit, remember
I have the connecting pipes as well. Quote:

Lastly, yes the exhaust drones, but I knew to expect that going in. I've never had an aftermarket exhaust before and I probably just need to get use to it. Overall, it's a completely different car that turns girls heads (finally!! j/k). In the day I've had it, I'v already had at least 5 random people tell me it sounds awesome and ask me what it is. Again, my only potential concern might be my daily commute which many of you may not have to contend with... BUT it's only been a day... just one day... haha |

I have the Fabspeed high flow cats and Xpipe (no secondary cats). With this mod and stock mufflers, the car was very noticeably healthier. I added the Eisenmann Sport last week. There is no way I would want anything louder. It is great. No drone during cruise but a banshee under load.
I would not suggest Eisenmann Race at all, for anyone who is also contemplating changing the Xpipe. Get the Sport for a daily driver. Remove the second set of cats..... Voila! More power too. Quote:

Do you have the stock cats? I have no secondaries and super high flow primaries. Much louder than stock. The Eisenmann Sport with this setup is probably close to Eisenmann Race levels with the stock Xpipe.
