I decided to install an extra pair resonators to the Macht Schnell mid pipe to cut down on the noise when driving around town. There was always a 'brap' kind of noise every time I would shift (DCT) driving on local streets. Found a pair of small Aero resonators and it worked. I was going to have a regular exhaust shop weld these on but because the MS mid is so well made I wanted to add to the already great welds on there and remove the one thing that I didn't like about it. I had him replace the connection points that utilized the gaskets with vband clamps. The guy who did the work builds 1/4 mile turbo civics so he spends a lot of time welding and I thought I would share a few pics of the work.

Great looking work. Got any before and after videos of the exhaust change?

Very good looking! And the V bands are a nice touch, where did you get the weld on flanges and clamps?
I've considered doing something like this. I want to buy the Challenge Sport X pipe which has cats, but is a healthy ~$2k. I have a TIG and thought about buying a much better priced Macht Schnell and welding in a couple of high flow up stream (edit: excuse me, down stream) cats to cut down a little on the rasp and smell. I have several highly modified Jeeps that I can take my time on projects. The M3 is my DD (that I purchased with the intention of not modifying lol), I want to keep it down for max of an easy weekend install. |
