No, the tow companies that BMW contracts with will not have a replaement tire/wheel. I will not use the sealant, except as a last restort. I carry a plug kit that will work on most punctures, along with the MMobility compressor. Still looking for a space saver spare, like I had for my E46, to throw in the trunk on trips.

BMW won't tow the car - they will flatbed it. Make sure you have your towhook in your car at all times, because you will need it in this case (to get the car up on the flatbed). I believe they will go anywhere within 100 miles free of charge.

^ +1, I wondered the same thing...

Not good advice, unless they've strengthened the mount on the E92. I've seen inserts pulled out of the E46 bumper by doing this, as it is not designed for towing up steep inclines. The proper way, on the E46 at least, was to remove the front jack pads and attach a Y-harness to the two points underneath.

A lift bar type tow truck is approved for towing, in addition to the flatbed (owner's manual p. 219).

Wow, interesting. I've had mine flatbedded that way with no problem, but I guess I should think twice before letting them do it again. Thanks for that info, Greg.

This must be new? For the E46, they told me on a couple of occasions that it had to be flatbedded - I think I remember hearing something about the rear differential. Either way, not sure I'd want my car towed behind a truck.

No I wasn't being sarcastic.

But I'm totally confused now myself. My dealer is adamant that I have run flat tires on the car. But I am not so sure now. The Canadian option list states the 2MT option code as 245/35 ZR 19 and 265/35 ZR 19 Pilot Sports.

Are these run flats or not?

I don't have the car yet to have a close look at the tires. Just prior to delivery, I was informed of a tire campaign to inspect for cracks/cuts in the sidewall. Apparently, three where ok, but one showed possible failure and was replaced.

I'm picking the car up this weekend and will try to get to the bottom of this tire uncertainty.

If the dealer thinks they are run flats, ask BMW Canada & then show the dealer their answer.

Short answer, NO. As I state previously, Pilot Sports or PS2s do not come in a run flat version. Standard 3-Seires cars come with run flats. Ms never have. The dealer is just not familiar with this car yet.

Not all are, but a hazard of the profession, i guess. To cut some slack, they have to keep track of like 50 different models and permutations, while we're focused on just one. That said, most slide by on keeping up to date, because they can and few customers call them on it.

fwiw, michelin does offer a runflat ps2. It's called the ps2 zp and a number of 335 owners report having the tires.

the tread design is identical to the ps2s.

with that said, I haven't looked close enough at oem m3 tires to see if they are infact the zp version. A number of dealers are instructing owners that the tires are runflats so hopefully they have their ducks in a row.

I stand corrected, however the Tire Rack site only shows the ZP in two sizes, neither of which is appropriate for the M3.

I picked up my car this weekend. One tire had been replaced as it showed some sign of a cut/crack on inspection. Another inspection of the tires will me made at the first service.

About the confusion; I had to show the CA that the car did not come with run flats. He was surprised to see this....he just assumed they were RFTires .... he apologized about the wrong info he gave me and informed the rest of the sales and warranty personel at the dealership that the car doesn't come with the RFTires. They all thought it did. (All they had to do was look at the tires....duh!!!!)

An honest mistake I guess. Just not familiar with the new model and features.

I don't believe any M car has ever come with runflats, so that should not be new information to them.
