Agreed. Most people are clueless enough about physics to disregard power to weight ratios and the merits of weight reduction. Ariel Atom are insane.

They're one of the few street legal cars that are more bare than a Lotus. Colin Chapman still owns, though.

Maybe, just maybe, if he was going in reverse.

EDIT: I don't think there is a rule for telling a story. I want to hear it.

Awesome little beast!!!!

So riddle me this.....How is that thing street legal?

I thought for vehicles to be street legal they had to have all the government mandated crap on board such as three dozen air bags, ten cat converters, side impact protection, 50mph bumpers set to be at a certain height, etc.

While I love the raw potential of the Ariel....I am confused how it can really be street legal? If so, why can't BMW start making rockets like that for us purists?

IIRC it gets tagged as a kit car. The rules you're talking about aren't to make a vehicle "street legal" they're to make it legal for a manufacturer to sell in the US as a production car. I think they get around that by shipping the car into the US with no engine in it, selling it as a kit, and then you pay the dealer to install the engine. It wouldn't surprise me to see the government close this loophole up in the near future, so get 'em while they're hot!

I'd LOVE to have one personally.

Ariel Atoms are just about as fast as a Veyron in straight line so I'm not sure what kind of "kill" story you are talking about.

Yeah, uh no contest against your SSTT powered 135i. lol.

Was this "kill" in a vehicle other than a BMW?

Hmmm, Hmmm?

There are only about a jillion posts on here about these mystical kills by the way. None of the OP's had their hands cut off.
