with all informal forum transaction, it's caveat emptor. Sure you can reasonably be assured someone with a long history won't screw you, but there's little to no recourse when it does happen.

the one control you do have is, sending payment via a "products and services" payment method on paypal. That's why there's a fee associated with it you're buying paypal's buyer (and seller) protection services. I always use this payment method for item over $100...sometimes, I am even willing to cover the fees myself as a buyer.
