How good is military pricing?

Contemplating the purchase of my first new car and first BMW. We're told the military gets the best deal from BMW, but don't know what others are able to work out CONUS. Let me know what you think.

2011 335i Sedan
LeMans Blue
Black Leather
6-MT
ZMP
Premium Package
Heated Seats
Ipod/USB

42,690 bottom line. MSRP is 49,325 I won't be saving taxes since I'm moving to Texas, but does this deal justify getting it here vs stateside?

Also is the HK sound worth $875?

Thanks for patience with new guy.

Hey There,

We just ordered a [US-Spec] 328i Wagon through BMW's Military/Diplomatic sales program. Since we are planning to remain in Europe for several years, the program was a no-brainer. We paid $33K for a car with an MSRP of $40K. We were also able to avoid the local 20% Sales Tax and 20% Luxury Tax...

Why not use the military discount and buy when you're back in the US? If you go through the Military/Diplomatic program and pick up in Europe you will then have to pay to have the car shipped back to the US.

I have attached the E90 Sedan price details. You should be able to compare these discounted prices to what is listed on www.bmwusa.com. If you contact BMW Diplomatic Sales directly, and specify the car and location, they will put you in touch with a local dealer (either in Texas or wherever you want to pick the car up).

Cheers,

If you want to contact them directly, just send an email to diplomaticsales@BMW.COM. They will respond very quickly.

Also, I have attached the buyer's guide.

Hello to everybody and congratulations on the 328iT!

To add to your post, military pricing also includes free home shipping, and as it comes to tateside tax, most states, to include TX, have special regulations for Military personnell.

As it comes to the price, I used to work with BMW in NC and even with all the trunk money and incentives, we could not get as low as military pricing.

@ Dsohl: Say hello to David from his former Desk in HD

Oh, and you will be saving taxes: x% on 43,000 vs x% on 49,000....

Ray

Hi Ray,

Any idea if the free EU --> USA shipping applies to the Diplomatic Sales program as well?

Cheers,

I doubt it.

Did you recieve the car yet? Judging from your post, I do not think so.
Reason for asking: On the Invoice it says "home shipment voucher Europe" to identify the free home shipping program.

What is your status? Diplomat or NATO or contractor or or or? If it gets to personal -> PM.

Ray

Hi Ray,

The car is scheduled to come off the line next Friday. We do not even have a VIN number yet.

Will be diplomatic (will register with BN/CD plates here in Holland).

Think that there is any way to get the voucher?

Here's a couple of FAQ's in Pentagon Car Sales which is one of the two Military Car Sales here in Germany. Below are a couple of their FAQ's...

2.Is it possible to participate in the BMW Military Sales Program if I’m stationed in the USA?
No, in order to use this special program your Duty Station must be located outside the USA and it’s territories. Alternatively, you must be in possession of TDY/TAD orders (or deployed) to a foreign location at the time you place your BMW order.

back
3.Is it possible for both DOD civilian employees and civilians contracted to the US Military to participate in this program?
Yes, both groups may participate in the program providing the person holds a valid US Military ID Card and is assigned on official orders to a location outside the USA and it’s territories.

If you want to find out more about their program here's their web site: www.pentagoncarsales.com

Just helping

The Military and Diplo sales programs are the same and both are far less then in the U.S. If you are not in a rush for the car, you might want to also check about the Rota BMW Military Sales Demo Program. It can save you another 4%. Questions? James.Starr@pentagoncarsales.com
