Excellent notes OP. I believe the E9x's will be in high demand again once the F8x guys realize just what they are missing.

I also intend to keep my car. The mod bug got me pretty bad with my B8 S4 and I couldn't stop. With the E92 M3 instead of modding, I am putting my money down for gas and tracking it. Couldn't be happier. For me at least, it is driving nirvana.

Yep new car faster but until I no longer enjoy the current one, why jump ship when still in love. I kind of like this part of the era where we can keep the fire breather or get the new torquier M3. Win win situation I think. But maybe you should ask yourself what is it about the V8 M3 that the new F8X can't do for you? Is it it that sweet induction noise as the RPMs rise? Just curious because I'm not interested in the new car either (yet) but I will test drive it a couple times to see if it can give me the same feelings. This like most folks here feel is the most important aspect of owning the M3, the joy. Maybe try it out this month...and when you try it I hear Sport+ is the way to go unless you want to hear an econo-box with a leaky exhaust. However I don't think the odd fart sounds go away when throttle is released under load. Brrtttt!
I feel like it's back in time again when I had a G35 and the G37 made it's debut. That time though it was the more feminine lines I couldn't get over on the new car. The test drive did reveal the car felt more buttoned down and raspier exhaust, but it wasn't enough. Sorry for your loss careful driver. I am sure someone who wants more comfort, luxury and speed with an E90 M3 will do that swap with you.

I couldn't agree more, I will have my E92 M forever! At some point I would like to add a Porsche but my baby will be with me forever!

I am getting the new M3, but I am keeping my '09 M3. I bought a 2011 328i as a DD and I love it. My friend is a sales man for BMW, he test drove the new M3 & M4, he said that it does not compare to the e9x, but it has tons of power from the get go. I do like the new M3 better the M4. But I agree, I would never give up my M3 for the new one.

I lost my less than a year E92 2013 M3 due to an accident. It was super bad and I knew BMW's design saved my behind. But I could not get back into another one right away as it was too fresh in my mind. I leased a 328i M sport EB II for the meantime planning to move to an F80 as soon as possible. But the F30 was killing me. Sure it looked gorgeous on its own right but the turbo although amazing just did not grab me in anyway. It sounded like a diesel at start up and the car itself felt as big as our previous 2006 E-class, I felt it lost that compact feel. So after almost a year from the accident it all came down to - am I going to be happy with a torque turbo 6 cylinder or do I go back to the mighty V8... so I'm back in a 2011 M3 E90. It is actually my first use car and I don't care. The car was well taken care of and I'm just thankful someone let this baby go. The car is just crazy and I feel M proud driving it every time.

I have never really liked the way the F10 sounded. to me its nothing special at all. the F80 is worse also
IMO a well modded E90 with the right exhuast setup is simple amazing in the sound department. i sat in a M6 and M5, and loved the interior. but i couldn't get pass how the engine is not really special. So dont blame you for wanting a E90 again. |

I love my M3 and like everyone else in this thread, I'll be keeping mine long term as well. I second what everyone has said regarding driving pleasure not being about numbers. It's about feel and emotion, and this car has that in spades!

Nothing last forever. Many say they won't leave this platform, but wait until the new M computers get opened up and power possibilities become endless... People always want more power.
The new M sounds like ass. Someone better make a good exhaust. please. |

why trade in an M3 for an M5 in the first place? M5 is a heavier and lazier car. The only thing it's good for is highway cruising, and even that is limited by the ridiculously low speed limits we have.

If you ever get back into a E9XM. You owe it to yourself to track it. It will blow your mind and you will appreciate the car in a totally different way.

The F80 sounds like shit stock. With a exhaust you will only get ricer sound. Doesnt matter the car is a 3.0L I6 with two turbos. IT WILL NEVER sound as good as the old V8. its one thing to have a V8 with turbos, another thing to decrease cylinder AND add turbos. IDK why people say a exhaust will fix the "problem". when its simply not. I will admit more power is good. I want more power right now. IF i was keeping my E92 i would put a 600+ S/C Kit on it. I get a very fast car with a very good sound. The only thing is that the looks of the E92 might get dated. the only way the F80 is going to make BIG power numbers is with after market trubo setup. Sure people will be able to put a down pipe on and tune. but how far will that really take this car with the boost already at a higher point. |

I got to say, I'm almost happy that the F8x comes with a turbo 6cyl, cause if it had a newer and better V8, I would've probably needed to get one. Instead I'll just keep my old E92 and be very happy that I'm driving the coolest engine that BMW ever put in an M3! Nothing beats getting a catless supercharged S65 to redline!! |

a. huge b. spectacular Just remember how heavy the n54/n55 market was. We won't be disappointed. Quote:
I honestly think many more tuners care about this vehicle than some of the others (hence 3 big tuners I know of who are getting launch F8x cars) and even without the ECU crack, there will be a piggyback solution out soon enough. Look at what terry just did with the 435. This car will be amazing- and it's already great.
