Weekend Lap of Tassie....

This may interest many of you here!
We drove from Adelaide last Friday & caught the Spirit of Tasmania Friday night from Melbourne.
Arrived in Tassie on Saturday morning at 6am and our weekend started!
Drove all day through some sensational roads on the west coast & arrived in Hobart where we stayed on Saturday night.
Sunday started at 8am, drove all day up the east coast & boarded the Spirit again back to Melbourne.....arrived at 6am.
Headed back to Adelaide.
3,500 km's later......what a weekend

Thought I would post a few pics of the weekend just past.

P.S. The M3 definitely held its own with these big boys as well

Were some of the cars in the state for longer than this? I saw a red Ferrari and White 997 like those about 2 weeks ago on the Midland highway following each other.

the pictures look awesome! Some friends of mine actually wanted to do something similar, so it's good to know there are some nice driving roads to look forward to!

The quality of the roads are extremely good.....no one had any issues at all. No problems with Police at all.

The plate on the GT3RS (172) looks pretty cool, is it the same 'style' as your '308' plate?

Yeah.....the GP plates do look good.

They are known as a "GP" plate that were issued first in 1985 for the Fosters Adelaide F1 Grand Prix & as far as I know, continued to be issued up until the last Adelaide GP.

My SA "308" plates are South Australian Historic or Heritage Number Plates that were issued in approx. 1907/08.

There are a few issues regarding the GP plates, as they conflict with the same Historic numbers issued but that is a whole other story.....

Yeah I was going to say...surely 172 exists as a heritage plate...so basically on the rego papers they are just purely the number with no kind of "GP" related character in front?

Also, do you happen to have a map of the route you guys took or something?

You will laugh.......but I didn't need a route map, as I just followed who ever was in front of me......I like surprises

I mostly followed the 458 & GT3 RS

Can someone PLEEASSSEEE ogranise a Melb -> Tas cruise like this.

M308, how was the spirit of tasmania? I have never been on it

Sorry mate.....I don't personally know anyone here........yes I do, 1 guy

It is organised quite secretly with in a tight group of people on AE.

There were a couple of Melbourne guys that did come as well.

Word of warning though......those Tassie roads can bite "VERY" hard if you aren't careful & experienced with your car, & treat them with the utmost respect

The SOT was very comfortable, food was great as well. I shared with another guy in a twin single bed room but those seas can get quite bumpy.....took a couple of quells as a precaution before take off though I was fine though!

The ultimate boys weekend in my mind

im off to Tassie with the m3 in october for a wedding. Just one day on the roads for me. Dumping the car off on the Spirit of Tasmania and flying over. Friends will be 'babysiting' the car for me on the boat. Can't be fucked sailing when I can fly in 1 or so hours. Looking foward to it bigtime!
