E90 M3 Lease Calcs

I went to the dealer to see what deal we could do for an E90 M3, and the numbers I can't make add up to what I get per month using any of the online lease calculators.

I have: MSRP 70,525, Selling Price 66,640, Bank Fee 725.

With 5600 down as cap reduction plus 497 tax on that (NY City 8.875%).

So if put into edmunds lease calculator 6097 down, .0017 MF, residual of 42315 (60% of the 70525), purchase price of 66640 plus 725 of fees, it shows my monthly payment to be 714. In the attachment from the dealer, it shows 791.83. I'm just trying to come up with numbers to negotiate with the dealer, but I'm having problems since I can't make my own numbers work anyway - anyone know what I'm missing?

If you would like a comparison quote from us to see how good your deal is just shoot Ryan an email. HE will shoot you a quote back. You can use that to compare to the deal you got and then pick the best one or use it as a negotiation with your local dealer

That seems absurdly high, especially if you are doing European Delivery AND $5600 cap cost reduction.

Ryan or David Aviles should definitely be able to do better than that.

Seems a bit strange. How do they arrive at a Cap Reduction Tax of $2,529? Then you have the Up Front Tax. Maybe that's right but it seems strange.

I don't have the invoice prices handy but your selling price seems way high. My ED M3 was $10,000 below MSRP, much much lower than yours. Suggest you check the invoice prices (and look at the other offers) and I think you'll see you're overpaying.

Also, why the cap cost reduction? Use that cash as MSD instead. It won't lower your monthly as much but it's safer and you don't pay tax on it.

Yes we are able to sell out of state no problem. 30% of the cars Ryan sells are to out of state clients

As long as your in USA we can sell you a car at an awesome price

Since he's in NY, I'm assuming the dealer is also in NY and you cannot do MSDs there. Yet another reason to shop from an out of state dealer.

I do still agree that he shouldn't be putting all that money down though, just bank it and make monthly payments from it.

Good point. I forgot NY didn't allow MSDs.

If you are doing European Delivery, the SELLING PRICE for the car as you have it spec'd should not be higher than $62,000. If it is, you're paying too much. I will post a link to a thread on ED invoice prices when I get back to my computer so you can see what I'm talking about.

Take GOLFFRR's advice and hit up Ryan for a quote. You can also contact David Aviles at Northwest BMW in Baltimore. Both are forum sponsors, both are ED experts, and both do a lot of orders for forum members, including me.

I think everyone assumed you were talking about ED since that's essentially what you said in post #3.

Best if you fly out here and drive it back home. It will be a memory in the making.

Here's the thread I promised you with invoice pricing for ED:

http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=427717

And here are the May lease rates (I haven't seen a post for June so I assume they are the same):

http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=529041

And don't forget to add .00030 to the MF for ED.

quick questions on leasing an ED M3.

1) is the residual calculated from the US MSRP or ED MSRP?

2) is the MF markup avoidable?

Yes, residual is based on US MSRP.
Yes, the MF markup is definently avoidable if you shop around for your CA. I will mention though that you must look at the total offer. A small MF markup by a CA who's offering $500 over invoice may be a better deal than no markup but $1,000 over invoice.

US MSRP

No, it's there because you skip the second payment.

Ah, sorry but I may have caused some confusion. I assumed the MF markup you were asking about is the perfectly legal markup by a CA not the ED adder. Merlosso is absolutely right that the ED adder cannot be waived. CA's (or more correctly usually their finance office) may want to bump up the MF by a "small" percentage. You can usually avoid that markup altogether by shopping around.

Why does your cap cost go from $66,640 + $725 = $69896.31

Seems that you've got an extra 2531.31 in there somewhere, that I'm not understanding. That is the difference, though.

Ah, I see it. The total drive off is $9743.72 and they've added the remainder to the cap cost.
