I tried trading my 11 E92 ZCP for 911 Turbo S

As stated above I said what the heck it\'s my dream car so let\'s see what happens..

So after going through some numbers with the salesman he kindly looks at me like a father would look at his son and politely says \" you\'re not ready yet son, maybe in another year or two but you\'re on the right track. Keep your car in mint condition many people seem to like it. 911 turbos S is usually customers fourth car in their stable\" LMAO

Two things occurred! I wanted the Pcar even more and I appreciated my M3 even more on the drive back home..

So funny. Just thought I\'d share my experience.

Cheers

The fact that you had an SA that actually considered what was best for YOU is kinda decent.

I don't understand why they wouldn't let you buy it. I'm guessing you are 25 making a hundred grand trying to buy a $170,000 car solely on a monthly payment.

I'm guessing another factor is probably that the car isn't paid for and prob doesn't have much equity into it being a 2011 but we don't have any details really to work off of.

Man, I was only looking at a Cayman S, the guy looked at me the same way. Maybe it's "kinder and gentler" generation.

Without knowing anything about anyone's financial standing, maybe the SA has been watching the news for the last 4 years and realized that individuals being leveraged above their eyeballs can become everyone else's problem?

No offense intended, OP.

A car salesman in this economy turning down a sale? Yeah, I'm joining the b.s. comment.

If they knew going into it that they can't get financing for the OP, why would they do it? So, it's not entirely BS. We are talking about a move from a 60+K car to a 170+K car. It's a huge jump. When I was moving up to a P-car earlier this year, I also had trouble finding financing even though I have a over 50% down payment to put down.

Also, making 250K may sound like a lot, but we don't know how the OP's finances are doing. If you were a doctor just finished residency with a family, a mortgage and all the student loan from the previous 15 years, 250K doesn't go that far........

I guess it depends what your other financial obligations are. If you make that type of money and have no kids, or don't own much real estate, then go for it.

Still, a turbo S is a near exotic. Keep in mind that most people who can afford one can afford to pay cash and not even blink. Also, anyone looking to spend over $100k on a car and who needs to finance it, probably shouldn't be spending that much on a car.

Most people who buy a turbo S, haven't really been affected by the economy. So they lost $2M of their $8M portfolio. The sales guy is proabaly just waiting for the cash sale which is sure to come soon.

Making 250k and looking at a turbo S???
What do you think your rich or something??? That's just hilarious.
Looking at a $170k car you can't even drive every day... oh brother.
These posts are just making me tired.
Why isn't anyone posting about mods or tuning or M3 problems. Why don't we just add a pole, should I keep my M3 or trade for a turbo S?

Although $250,000 sounds like a lot of income to many, it depends on lifestyle. Couple of kids, $750,000 house, line of credit... all of a sudden not much of the $250,000 left. Now, if you are single with little debt then I say find another Porsche dealer who wants to sell a car!

Story appears authentic to me. I imagine the Turbo S is largely purchased with cash anyway. The only odd thing is that the SA didn't attempt to put you in a new standard 911, Boxer, or pre-owned.

Well, if you make $250k, you are "rich" according to Obama. And let's keep it in perspective.....you are. You earn more than 95% of the US population.

If you earn $350,000 per year you earn more than 99% of the U.S. households and if you break the $1M per year mark, you are better than 99.7% of the U.S. households. That top 0.3% = 400,000 households which are concentrated in the Northeast corridor and California, with only spotty deposits in other locations.

This is why if you live in one of these locations, which many M3 owners do, you may not feel rich even though you actually are. Honestly, if you can comfortably afford a new M3, you are rich.

All this talk about how much money one has is motivating me to work harder and smarter.

Anyhow, I'm really curious about what the real story behind the story is. OP please continue... (insert smilie eating popcorn, I couldn't find it).
