DCT fluid $40/liter?

So, from what I am gathering, DCT fluid is $40/liter and it takes about 21 liters. So we are talking $800 in just fluid to change DCT fluid?

That's somewhat insane.

Also, BMW claims it's a lifetime fill, but every mechanic out there says you should change it at various intervals (some recommend 50K, some 75K, some less).

Is this right?

Motul released some new fluid not too long ago. A couple people have used it with good experience. I plan on changing mine this weekend.

The BMW fluid is just rebranded Pentosin. Just buy the Pentosin brand on ECS or any other website for about $27/Liter.

It does not take 21L. Filling it takes 9-10, but you can only drain 4-5L when servicing it. We got around 4 out when I changed my fluid in December.

And yes, I am using Motul Multi DCTF. Talk to Chris at XTR Performance. They were the guys who were able to get it for me. Or you can use Pentosin FFL-4, which is what the OEM fluid is, and buy it from NAPA or O'Reilly for about $22/L.

I had my old FF analyzed at 50k and it looked great. Probably could've gone to 60k or 70k.
