What does everyone recommend for pothole filled Hawaii roads? I keep front and rear slightly over 40 PSI for comfort. Any input?

The values on the doorjamb are much different, 38 Front 41 Rear IIRC, for 4 passengers 100mph+.

It depends how much pressure is n the tires when you reset it. If you reset it when there was 24-26psi in the tires it won't go off until well under that amount.

My door jamb reads 41F 44R for 100+ with passengers & luggage. That's the way came from the dealer too - so far, I don't see a reason to change. I'll wait to see how the tires wear & see if there are any handeling quirks. When traffic allows, I go 100+ every day I drive it, just not with a full load.

A word of caution, cars are delivered to dealerships with high pressures in the tires so they are easier to manouver at low speeds as they are moved from factory line to dealerships. They might have missed this on the pre-delivery check and not adjusted the pressure.

Although in Germany, with autobahns, which is the first place you are heading with your new M, they might deliver with 100mph+ pressure!

They meant to deliver it at that psi - I asked when we were doing the indoctrination & later confirmed -

May reduce it a bit - 4 psi or so - Don't wanna be bouncing down the auto-bahn

Nice!

Indoctrination - LOL

When I got mine, they were doing the instructions, and I am "Fukk it, I am sure I'll figure it out! And, Erm, how do I get this drool out of the leather?"

I run 36/38 on my 18's. It seems like a nice balance between comfort, rolling resistance, and sidewall stiffness.

I think it's to prevent flat-spotting when cars are strapped down during transit, but regardless, they do arrive at dealerships with high pressures.

I use 35psi all around myself; it's plenty for my light weight and solo driving (and sometimes an even lighter passenger). And those high pressures are for 100+ mph SUSTAINED, AND with max load.
