Damn, son...

The Lightwerkz retrofit is such an amazing mod. It makes a huge difference and is well worth the cost. I was lined up to send my headlights in before my block decided to crack

yeah, caesar and the folks at lightwerkz do great work. i had the outers done about a year ago and really like it. since my car was done for quite some time, i decided to do the inners to complete the quads.

sorry to hear about your neighborhood/area.

yes, i have posted on there. this was a consolidation of all my posts in that thread. they were all spread out since i started that thread back in april, i think. for those who see it here, it is a lot *easier* and quicker to go through.

i dunno if lots of folks are gonna appreciate the project, as you said, but if they do, cool. if they don't, it is all the same to me

the full hartge front lip is no longer available brand new. it took me months to get it. and actually, hartge no longer has the lower cf portion in mint condition. last time i checked (which was back in january or so), they had a few of the upper portion, which is painted, left and had 2 cf portions but with significant blemishes that were not repairable. even so, it worked out for the best since i did not want the lower cf portion when i found out it was 2x2 black cf. it just so happens that, after a lot of searching, i actually found a company that makes a lip that is nearly the exact same dimensions as the hartge cf portion except it was meant to be mounted directly to the bottom of the stock bumper (it comes predrilled). i contacted them and asked for a custom order in 1x1 black cf and without holes. they made it happen so it all came together this all sounds a lot easier than it was....<sigh> but it worked out....

i am rambling and the above is probably not that clear. so, here are some pics of the hartge lip on the oem bumper:

here are pics of that cf lip:

now, i got the idea for my custom bumper from jun (IB///M3) on m3f. here are pics of his car showing a replica csl bumper (i think it is euro-spec's) combined with the hartge lip. the lip doesn't fit properly on the oem csl or any replica csl bumper. note that there are small gaps near the bumper grill between the upper portion of the lip and the bumper. i decided to take my oem bumper, shave/fill in the holes for the reflectors and "convert" it to a csl-look bumper. my biggest problem with vorsteiner's or other company's csl replica bumper is fitment. furthermore, you can't make the hartge lip sit perfectly flush to the bumper.

btw, for the hartge lip to fit on an oem bumper, the two bulges on each lower end have to be cut.

jun's car is absolutely sick, btw.

you can see the gaps i referred to above in this pic (ignore the 2 lines, which were put in when i was explaining something else to someone):

and some more pics:

lol by "block" i meant my engine block. it legit cracked somehow, only a few months after getting it used. don't ask me how it happened because the only S54's i've heard of cracking have been HPF cars but it's whatever. but yeah, the quad projectors are fucking incredible. i saw them in person only once and after that i was sold.

man, i am soooooo out of it. i swore i read "sell crack"...and i was thinking that was a reference to your headlights' being stolen....

wow. yeah, i need sleep. geeez. my bad.

that is really bad. i can't believe the block cracked. so you had a brand new one put in and it cracked?

i have heard of non-hpf cars cracking blocks but it is very uncommon as you said.

i really like the outer tfx retrofit. i got the inners with the same 55w ballasts but with 3000k bulbs. i wanted the "le mans racing look". lol.
