THIS IS TO PUT A WRAP ON THE FIFTH ANNUAL DRAGON RUN.
On Saturday Nov 19, 2022, the weather was as expected- 40ish degrees in the morning and warming into the 50's during the afternoon. No precipitation. We left Deal's Gap at 9am and encountered zero traffic. We had the Dragon to ourselves. No other cars, motorcycles, or law on the outbound leg. On the return leg, there were two other vehicles that immediately pulled over for us. The roads were clear of debris.
After spending a couple hours there, we moved on to visit Fontana Dam. And then on to Robbinsville for Italian food lunch. After lunch we cruised up Hwy. 143 to the Cherohala Skyway and saw Snowbird Mtn. Again, very little traffic. After that we visited Joyce Kilmer National Forest and saw the giant 400-year-old poplar trees. By midafternoon we were ready to head home.

It was amazing having the Dragon to ourselves. Two weeks earlier, Red Bull did a major PR event there with hundreds of spectators.
Also, on Sept 12, 2022, eighteen original Ferrari GTO's made a pass on the Dragon. It was part of the 250 GTO Reunion drive and there was no advanced publicity. The most exclusive club in the world- price of entry is 70-100 million dollars.
