New Wheels, No TPMS?
What happens when you run new wheels with no TPMS? Will I constantly have a light on in the dash? Will I constantly see a message on my iDrive screen? These cars have FTM correct what sense the speed of each wheel to detect a drop in tire pressure. Will that system work without the TPMS( I mean it should but who knows)?

The car will perform with no problems. The warning messages will continue to display. There will be no warning of low pressure if any tire actually starts to lose air. This is not an issue if you have a blow-out. However, it's hard to detect (feel?) a slow leak with the very low profile tires on an M3.

I would highly recommend you pay the money and get TMPS.

No TPMS means no DSC, either.

Are you positive there's no DSC without TPMS? I did a test fit and drive with track wheels/tires off of my e46 M3 and I am positive DSC was still active plus the only warning/error that showed up in i-Drive was no TPMS. It also sounds like a huge safety issue for DSC to shutdown on a car with TPMS and a tire with a leak.

Can anyone confirm this? Makes np sense why would Dsc stop working if I have a faulty or missing tpms?
Thanks Steve Quote:

Steve - I agree. Perhaps there's no MDM mode with a TPMS warning but no DSC sounds like a huge safety issue. I am positive DSC was still on when I had a TPMS error, however, I did not try MDM.

DSC/TPMS
Correct. DSC is tied into the ABS sensors. TPM sensors only moiktor tire pressure, as their name suggests.

My bad. I was thinking of something that happened with FTM on my E46 M3 and a bad sensor. Not TPMS.

I just use the Macht Schnell TPMS Emulator. I use 4 different sets of wheels and it is just too expensive to get 3 more sets.
This is available from EAS and Turner Motor Sports.
