Looking at picking up an E92 M3 6MT
Hey guys. Well I\'m a long time Audi guy but I\'ve been looking at M3\'s lately bc I have heard great things about them. Ill be keeping my 1993 S4 which has some mods (700hp ) but figured I\'d pick up an M3 as a daily. I\'ve seen and heard great things about DCT and I\'ve even driven one but nothing compares to a real manual so I\'ll be going for that. I have a 40k budget so I won\'t be too picky but anything I should look for when purchasing? How are the clutch life? Timing belt change? Or anything I should be worried about?
Also wheel and suspension question.. Looking at 19x9.5 front and 19x10.5 rear. Et20 front and et22 rear. What is the widest tire I can go for without rubbing on h&r sport springs? I'm an audi guy at heart but I need to try the m3 out bc it's a brilliant car. Hopefully I'll have enough cash to pick up a TT RS in a few years anyways happy motoring guys! Heres a pic of my current daily.

with 40k theres going to be slim pickings and most likely high mileage 2008s,in which case check for the main bearing issue, dct lag/software update(if you get dct). Thankfully the e9x m3 has been pretty solid. there is no timing belt, its a chain while i agree that there is nothing like a manual, i have dct and love it. hard to tell about clutch life since most m3s a 50k miles or below. that being said, drive it right and i dont see why a clutch wont last you past 100k. |

S4 always sits in the garage. It's in the process of some more work. But its got a fully built 5 cylinder capable of over 1,000hp with just a turbo change, the way it is right now it should be over 700hp. The car is mint. Comparable to someone having a mint E30 M3. Its one of a kind in my eyes and a new car can always be replaced a classic like the S4 can't..

Thanks man! Yes it is, one of the greatest cars i'll ever own. I'd never ever sell it. Bone stock it pulled on my buddies G37 a few years back. Thought that was funny because it was a 20 year old technology.. Heated seats front and rear, 10 disk changer, bose sound, locking diffs, etc.. The car was way ahead of its time and still holds up with the new cars on the road..
