Buttonwillow March 10-11 with Speed Ventures?

Anyone doing this event? I am considering it and would definitely attend if there are a bunch of M3s going.

There definitely will be a bunch of M3s going, for the March 10th event. Several of us already registered, and as we get near, I expect more registrations/confirmations. Join us!

I'm trying to pick between the Green and Red groups. What kind of times are people running in each?

My best time there is 2:06 and SV's website would not let me sign into Red group. So, Green it is for me.

Ricky & James run in Red group.

Given that I'm still stock except big brakes and I'm on street tires I'll sign up for green.

Anyone know what's a good time for stock and street tires?

Plenty of M3 hotshots do between 2:06 and 2:12 in stock form (OE brakes, etc) with street tires and like on their 2nd time at Button.

Green / Red is not just about lap times but about situational awareness as well IMO, but sounds like you are an experienced driver, so I'll save my breath. More pertinent to your question, last time SV did Buttonwillow, people were doing 2:03-2:05 in green, so green will be just fine for a stock M3.

I did 2:01 on stock M3 with AD08, Endless pads and alignment. I think it's decent time.

I'd be happy to get under 2:05.

I'm mostly familiar with #1CW (a popular configuration 10 years ago). Ran around 2:17 flat for #1CW in a stock automatic 2001 330i (220 horses) on street tires. I understand #13CW is 5-8 seconds shorter. So maybe 2:11 to 2:08 in a 330i. The stock E9x M3 is about 5-6 seconds faster than a stock E46 330i (around Thunderhill)...so maybe 2:02 to 2:06 if I drive my socks off.

I'm signed up for both days. Didn't see any E9x M3s signed up for Sunday. Are you guys doing both days?

For giggles, here is some footage of me doing Buttonwillow 1CW in my 330i about 9 years ago. If I look jerky and nervous, it was because I was. 2:16 laps.

I'm already signed up for March 10. I'm trying to host a BBQ for WWC on March 11, though it might get pushed back due to a date conflict.

See everyone there!

Isn't 1CW just 13CW but using Star Mazda instead of Sweeper? Should be pretty familiar as a configuration.

Is that an automatic? Don't see you shifting gears at all...

Yep, an automatic. When I bought the car I had no intention of ever taking it to the race track. The car eventually saw over 100 track days. I learned to drive a stick only after I began tracking. Eventually moved on to a Spec Miata, with a stick of course.

Just signed up for Saturday.. although running in a slower group than you guys.

I'm looking for an instructor for that day. Anybody on here have suggestions or maybe someone they can get me in touch with? I did about 2:15 last time I was at Buttonwilow with SpeedDistrict and looking to get a bit faster

U think its a decent time huh? haha u crack me up man. Most M3's with full suspension, brakes, tires, etc. are a couple seconds slower than that. U r crazy fast!

Yep. But it's been 6 or 7 years since I've been to Buttonwillow so it'll take me a a little bit to get reacquainted. From recent videos, I notice the berms have changed. Is it still okay to ride them? I liked to use them through the Grapevine and the Bus Stop. I also liked to ride them through the Esses to straighten them out.

Can't wait to run Buttonwillow with the bimmerpost gang! Also can't wait to try out my Brembos (the fronts are going in next week...have to wait a few more weeks for the rears), the Endless pads (thanks Ricky), and an alignment (got GC camber plates for the stock suspension). May bring Nitto NT01s as well and try them back to back with the RS3s.

I'm no Ricky, but I mean, there are plenty of burms that I think are needed. I would stay off of the tiny one on the right hand side/left turn before u go into the hard left at Bus Stop, and I would stay off of burms at maybe the second, and the third and fourth corner of the esses though, since those are really high.
