Timbo,

I would hold off for a few more months if you can. One of the vendors might step up and develop this.
Hey Thinker23....Thanks for keeping me posted. I'm definitely going to wait a while, like you suggested. I still don't like the situation, but oh well....at least I'm getting Lojack installed next Mon.

Let me know if you hear anything else. Thanks.

Update:

Been doing research and it looks like the headliner can be ordered with the wiring harness for the ultrasonic module of the alarm. I am trying to get confirmation with a forum member that did some headliner swaps. I will be checking if the car has the prewire for the siren in a few days.

The following are verified to be NOT installed from the factory:

- Hood switch and wiring harness.
- Ultrasonic sensor wiring harness.
- Siren wiring harness.

Will put this project on th back burner until I can source all the components. Thanks to Kev and MDCTFTW for sharing their time and knowledge.

I was just curious......One of the only options I ordered on my "stripper" m3 was the anti-theft alarm for the $400. And my questions were:

-Are their any drawbacks to the anti-theft alarm?

-Also, how much weight does that $400 Anti-theft alarm add to the M3?

Thanks for any answers.

Attention:

I haven't read through the 5 pages of postings, but my BMW dealership has finally upgraded my I-Drive software after 8 months or disputing and my alarm now has the "audible chirp" option! Yay!

It wasn't required, but wouldn't you feel ripped off if you paid BMW for the coding and they didnt even update the software to the full extent?

Thanks for the info, I'm interested in working on a solution for this. Can you tell me if your mirror still has a LED embedded?

If there is a vehicle produced after 3/09 that is local to our facility, that would be extremely helpful.

Volunteer here! I've been fighting the dealership with this problem since I ordered my car.

[Edit] I was actually planning on coming into your shop this weekend to pick up some kidneys and gills and to talk about the Performance Steering wheel.

Just to follow up - development is 95% completed, we have a beta tester performing durability testing now.

Best of all, install is about 45 minutes with no coding required.

I'd be very interested in this! I'm still bummed I wasn't told my car wouldn't come prewired.

Exclamation

Looks like there's a retrofit for vehicles built after 3/09. It's part# 65120399635.

Actually, the harness is the main item included. What's not included is the rear view mirror with the LED if there's none installed in the car... $238.
