Do you guys let your shibas off leash when you're out?

Mine is young enough that he still follows me everywhere, so when I take him to the park I'll usually go to an open field and let him off leash. Hopefully this is letting him know that he doesn't have to bolt as soon as he gets a little freedom.

Ever consider a Korean Jindo? They look pretty similar but I just love the loyalty and a little bit more independent nature of them. Also they're very capable defense dogs. There was a stray pitbull that was charging my niece and my dog took it out like a champ. But just like a shiba inu, u gotta be somewhat of an experienced handler as these were/are hunting dogs in Korea.

oh and they jump freaking high. My dog used to get a running sprint and leaped over a 5 foot wall...

you really got to take puppies out every 2 hours, right before feeding them.
that, unfortunately, does not work with most people's work schedules.

Crate training is a dog owners best friend.

I used to have one. Shibas are insanely smart. Mine could climb our fence and I would have never believed it until I saw him actually climbing the fence. Also, it was quick too. I saw him numerous times chase after birds and jump in the air and catch it and kill it. Also, it used to run away from home a number of times but it always remembered how to get back to the house. Sometimes he would leave for a day or two and just show back up in the back yard. He was a great dog, the only biggest complaint I had was that he sheds like no other.

I just gave Huxley his first bath. Apparently he loves being clean, because he's never this playful haha

My friend has a jindo. She doesn't do crap. Just barks like she's about to do something but doesn't. She's scared of my tiny dog. -_______-
