Windshield Weather Strip Replacement?

So, the weather strip at the top of my windshield is starting to crack. I'm thinking of replacing it and wondered if anyone has done a DIY on this? I found a couple of things on google, but they were not M3's and do not look like mine. I was hoping someone has seen/done this and/or could point me in the right direction. Thanks...

I just had mine done a week ago. I was going to attempt the DIY but too many reviews of it being very easy and very complicated. In the end, i had a independent company do it for me for $60. I did provide the replacement molding tho.

Do you have any pics of the cracks ?
And do you mean the top rubber sealing around the windshield ?

Yep, top rubber seal around the windshield. The DIY's I saw on-line were not for M's. Mine actually looks like one piece all the way around the windshield. If it isn't, then the side pieces include the corners, unlike the video's I watched. Hard to tell, but I think the top piece may be one piece about 1/2" inside the side/corner pieces. This is what I'm trying to figure out...

Hmmm, BMW just told me that the top and side's are all one piece ($51.00)and the bottom is another. They also told me they want $233.75 to install. Guess I'll be finding an independent as well! Friggin stealerships...

Think you need to watch out...
On my previous BMW I had them replaced too , and by a professional shop for replacing windshields .
After a few days I started to hear slight crack noises at slow turns or when driving up into my drive way .
Worst thing was...when I drove over about 80-85 mph it was like someone was baking some bacon in my car ... lol !
Actually it was the game of the wind somewhere into something of the rubber sealing..
After a week I was f@cking tired of it , went back to the shop..the guy test drove the car and replaced the sealing under warranty .
BTW...It was the guy that called this the bacon effect .
I never heard it again , so personal I think this should be done by a professional shop or BMW to stay out of trouble .
But if you really like bacon , you should DIY it by yourself

I read that they need to remove the windshield. Is this true?

That is incorrect. They slide the old strip out from either the left or right side. Clean the residue and then replace with the new molding in reverse. It took them about 15min total to do it.

This DIY is pretty much the same process for majority BMWs. If you can bear the painful speaking of this guy, the video gives you the guide of how to do it.

Yea, I saw that video and mine isn't like that. Mine is one piece, top and sides according to the BMW dealer and by looking at it...

The top and sides are all one piece. But it's not so hard to do. Just need to make sure you center the top part properly so the end flap things sit correctly. Once the top part is in place the sides are really easy.

I did the front and back moldings myself. Very easy... Just make sure the surface is clean and ready for application. Also make sure the corners are lined up before you remove the protection strip

My front and rear weather strip looks awful. I'm still under warranty, has anyone had this covered?
