Why are the OEM 19's rarely sold/favored so much?

Just as the title says. So many people selling there 18's and looking for the OEM 19's. I mean of course the 19's look better and are 2% lighter (exaggerated)....but there rarely sold on the classifieds.

Does anyone NOT agree with me?

For the price you get..

Good quality, forged.
Looks great
Decent weight for 19s
etc...

After adding spacers to my car, im having a hard time wanting to get aftermarket wheels. Im really digging the OEM 19s for now..

Yep, I'm buying a set of the new RACs, but I'm keeping my OEM 19s. They are very nice wheels.

Yes, the OEM 19's are certainly more desirable.

Many of the current owners who selected the optional OEM 19's, are holding on to them...even if they eventually upgrade to an aftermarket wheel.

And why not, there relatively lightweight, forged, and they look good. (especially for a factory wheel)

I'm definitely holding on to them even after I get a set of aftermarket wheels. They're gonna go great as my winter set. Here's hoping they make the perfect sizing.

The 18s would definitely be a more rationale choice in terms of lower costs of the tires and more side walls that prevent bubbles and other bent rims (at least here in NJ where the roads are horrible, lots of potholes etc...) but, IMO, the 19s are much closer to a true M design than the 18s. I am not a big fan of the grey finish the 18s have. I would nevertheless get the 18s for my winter tires if I ever decide to drive during the bad months...

I've got mine tucked away for now, was thinking about using them for winter but can't stand of the thought of putting the car through a chicago winter. Just a question, what would be the going rate if sold?

After lowering and spacers the OEM 19s look even better. Plus in 5 years when most folks have aftermarket wheels my car will look unique.

I know the 18's are BBS, not sure if the 19's are?
BTW, I actually prefer the look of the 18's but wish they came in 19's for this size car. JMO

I like the 18s better, but I just saw my car for the first time today (pic in my sig) at the dealer and to be honest I don't love how the gunmetal goes with IB. Like Foosh, I'm getting the RACs and will keep the 18s for track/winter uses.

I bought set of 19s in perfect condition from classifieds with virtually new PS2s in Feb for $1,700. Back then, there were a lot for sale.

There actually made by Fuchs in Germany. Fuchs has been a OE wheel supplier to BMW for over 20 years now. They have made the forged optional wheels on the M3 going back to the E36 M3.

TUNEDM3 had to go and spoil my fun the other day!

I don't like the 19s at all but they are good for the money if you plan to fit some BBK underneath.

I'd have to disagree on the 19's looking better than the 18's, but that's just me of course. The 19's look more flashier, but the 18's look more aggressive and meaner for sure. In the beginning, I was so sure that I was going to order my M3 with the 19's.....But as I kept seeing pics of the 18's and the 19's on several M3's on this forum.....I knew that the 18's were for me.

There are quite a few members who will agree with me and there are quite a few members who will not. I love my 18's and I've already been given an offer from someone who was wanting to buy them also. I declined the offer since I'm very attached to my 18's.

Going rate is roughly $1800-2200 for wheels and tires, depending on condition and tread on the tires. My car came with 18s that I use for winter - the dark finish is actually helpful when you don't get to wash it as much in the winter. I wouldn't do 19s for snows.
