Glove Compartment

I've been on this forum just about every day for about two months and I fully admit this might be one the more ridiculous questions. Last caveat, I searched every which way to find a previous post but wasn't able to find one. So please don't give me any grief if this topic has already been discussed. I honestly tried.

Here I go. I've had my M3 convertible for about three weeks. The honeymoon is far from over. Man, I love this thing. Anyway, it took me about two weeks to read all the books from cover to cover and the other day I was attempted to put the books in the car in the glove box. When I took delivery, I received two leather cases (one with the ///M embossing and another that was the standard BMW issues).

Neither of them fit in the glove compartment. Anyone else have the same problem? If so, where are you placing them? Trunk space is a premium with the convertible so that's not ideal.

My 328XI had a small glove box but I was able to fit the books in there with a little cajoling. No luck on the M3.

The coupe has a compartment in the trunk over the battery & tool kit that holds the manual case. Not sure if the vert has the same?

Mine manual's in the trunk.

So far I've only got the insurance card and registration in the glove box. I guess I could start putting my sunglasses in there, since BMW doesn't believe in providing a specific place for those, as 90% of the other makers do. Oh, now that I think of it, maybe I should put some gloves in there. That'll be a first.

Oh well, the front cup holders are the bomb. They really pulled out all the stops there.

Thanks Greg. You can't place anything in the similar areas of the convertible as the hardtop folds all the way down on the "wells" to the left and right. Then again, its 30 degrees and snowing right now in Chicago so doesn't look like the top is coming down anytime soon!

Big thanks to everyone else for posting. Very much appreciated. Looks there really isn't a great solution but not really a huge deal in the first place.

Yeah I did, the compartment is too small. I think its always good to have the books in the car in case something happens and you need them for reference but your point is valid.

I would do that but am one of the many (all?) 08 E90 owners without netting on the backs of the front seats.

And i think it is stupid to not be able to fit even one of the manual cases in the glove compartment. Annoying as hell.

Let me see if I can take a picture for you.
But, just try placing it so that the latch part of the manual is towards the front of the car, and the ///M emblem is facing up.
