380mm Stoptech Trophy and Stock 18's....

After a couple track sessions running over heated stock brakes I figured it was time for an upgrade. After some careful measurements I decided to go with the Stoptech Trophy 380mm kit. What a nice kit and instructions were great. I won't go into the install as there are a few other post detailing how to do it. One post in particular where I would really have to thank for the good tips is this one. Post. It was really helpful and I would definitely recommend anyone getting ready to do this upgrade yourself to read up first as it really helps. Actually one tip I thought was really invaluable was item number 2. in the post. I was a little skeptical at first and expected some brake fluid to be spilled when I disconnect the lines but having the brake pedal depressed and locked at about the halfway mark really works. Hardly any fluid came out after disconnecting the lines. For others looking to do this I took a pic of how I kept the brake pedal depressed using a 2 foot level and wedging it between the pedal itself and the front of the seat. Worked perfectly. Other than that I was sooooo glad the 380mm kit fit the stock 18's. It’s a tight fit but there is still a good amount of clearance. What specifically made it fit was having a 15mm spacer. Without the spacer there would be some interference. Here are some pics from my install.

Good looking brakes! I didn't think they fit the 18s... I just ordered the 4 piston setup for that reason. But props for working it out!

Your going to love'm, great choice.

My detailer used something on my car that hazed the anodizing, very upsetting, be sure to use only mild cleaning products and wash it off immediately. I might paint the calipers now.

Wow...that is close. Looks awesome. Just need to upgrade to a stud conversion...helps avoid dinging your calipers.

Yup. Studs will be nice. It is not easy to get the wheels on now. I have to be more careful. Once they are on though the clearance is about 1/4" at its closest point which is the corner of the head of the allen bolt. I measured it with some playdoh.

I fit checked the ST60 on my 18's before buying the ST40 instead. Spacers are a must for clearance which I did not feel comfortable as a long term and permanent solution.

Even with spacers, clearance is minimal. Probably between 1 and 2mm which is a bit concerning if anything gets stuck inside the rim (piece of rubber, rock, etc.). Be careful and check the inside of your rim often.

Nice pics, but I'd consider getting some APEX wheels. You'll have more clearance and they're not that much considering you have the BBK already.
And you won't need spacers. It really SUCKS when you realize you forgot the spacers as you're changing out to track wheels at the track!!

Not sure if they are slightly different but the calipers are STR-60. From what I understand they are lightened versions of the ST-60. I've been running spacers for a few years now for my track setup so I'm pretty comfortable with them. With the shape of the inner barrels of the OEM 18's the calipers clear nicely at about 6-7mm or ~0.25" and that is at its closest which really is just one particular allen bolt. If I wanted more clearance I could replace that one allen with a half head height allen and gain another couple mm's.

Moton's are great for street driving. I've been happy with them thus far. They do exhibit a bit of noise but nothing intolerable for me at least.

Interesting, very tempting now that I know these can work with 18's. I put the st-60 template up to my stock 18's with 12mm spacers and it looked liek it fit with 1-2mm to spare. Do the front wheels stick out from the fenders with 15mm spacers? Any rubbing?
I wonder if the tight clearance will impede the airflow out of the top of the caliper.

I looked on ST's website for an STR-60 template to compare the minimum diamter required for the ST-60 and STR-60. Didn't find anything. I wanted to see if the STR-60 has some material along the top of the caliper machined off since it seems to require 4-5mm less than the ST-60.

Not sure exactly where they shaved the weight of the STR60 vs the ST60 calipers but according to the web site there is a 20% reduction of mass. I would assume there to be some difference in shape.

With the 15mm spacers the stock 18's are still tucked up under pretty well with 255 AD08's. I get some light rubbing of the fender liner at full streering lock but nothing major. The rubbing started with the 255 AD08's though. I don't have many pics at a side profile but here's one that I have on my phone.

Had some time this weekend and was able to mount up the wheels with a 12mm spacer. Its even tighter but it fits. Here's a pic. I didn't have any playdoe this time but I checked with some feeler gauges and it looks like about ~1.5mm clearance to that allen head. Hope that helps.
