Finally, I did it too...E92 AW - A frust

First, I want to thanks all those posters who share their experience on their M3 purchases - I could not have done it without you!

My experience has been a frustrating one but, nevertheless, the result overcomes the pain - AW E92 with more options than I asked for.

My original target price was 1k over invoice for 08 E92 DCT but got no where with local dealers (within 50 mi) of L.A.

I was considering 09 with exact options that I want but one of the dealers called me with a reasonable offer for an 08. The car has more options than what I need. It came with required 2MT, 2MK, ZPP, ZTP, 6FL, and 507but also came with (what I don't need) heated seats, sat radio, prem sound and extended leather.

The purchasing process was quick. I walked in to the dealer and sat down to sign couple paperwork. No hassle or haggle since the price was agreed upon. The car is prep-ed and filled up with a full tank of gas. It has 6 miles on it...Hmmm... they told me 4 when I called. ;-)

The financing was the most painful part as the F-guy (yes, F) makes mistake on my MF rate. I have to call my CA whom claimed he does not know anything about it which give me an empty filling about how CA should take care of the customer. I emailed my CA and finance guy again to ask them to make it right. Later, the F-Guy called back and asked me to return to dealership to re-sign the contract with lower MF rate. Cool... They did make it right...

Except, when I returned home, I see a $600 discrepancy on the total finance costs (payments+fees) that doesn't match with the breakdown. I think I will call BMWFS to figure out the details. I don't know if I want to do another leasing anymore.

Well...to summarize, my experience of buying M3 was less exciting than what I expected. Hopefully, the excitement will come back when the break-in period is over...

Most postings to come..Thanks to those who help and listen...

AW e92

Hello,

Congrats on your new M3. I am looking for a similar car and was wondering what dealership you went to and how much over invoice you ended up pay. Thanks and enjoy your new ride!

Regards,

Derek

CREVier BMW in Santa Ana has a 2008 M3 Silvertone DCT Coupe with Fox Red Leather and NAV with 19" Wheels. Hot!

Speak to CA Judy Ray and she will take you on the test drive of your life. I saw a AW M3 Coupe but don't think it had DCT. She is a professional race car driver and a grandma. She leans over and presses the //M button for me from the passenger's seat. Crazy woman.

Try ordering a 2009 M3. No penalty for waiting. 2009 Price Hike was only 1.5% This way you get the exact M3 optioned the way you want. Allocations are slim. You could pay for a car tomorrow and not have it built til mid-October and won't see it in your driveway before Thankgiving. But dealers do trade Allocations to get an earlier built date slot.

Try $2500 Over Invoice. Finance rates will be close to 7+% Ask about BMW Select Loans.

Also call Phillipe Kahn at Southbay BMW. No 2008 DCT's but he is an enthusiast and stand up on getting a good price.

Good luck...

Cheers,

PS Close to 2009 M3 e90 Sedan Interlagos Blue - Fox Red Leather Heaven. Twitchy....

Maybe she was trying to manually shift you into first gear...next time tell her to use the paddle shifter...

CREVier BMW has several BMW 2008 M3 Coupes with DCT including most colors (SG, AW, IB, SG, ST, except Jerez Black). Call Judy Ray. Check the online inventory on the website to find the car you are looking for.

I was in the market for a M3 Sedan...but ordering M3 Coupe's and Convertibles with DCT's is more common. No M3 Sedan's had the DCT at CREVier. I think they have 41 Total M3's in stock.

The +$600 is the Registration Fee for Cali DMV plates etc. That might be it.

new century has a AW m3 sedan with DCT for a good price...PM if interested..

I thought it was registration fee, but it was listed under box A. so I don't get it +$600 came from. I checked my 2007 550i lease, and it was off about the same amount,....

Hmmm....

Here is a new charge that no one mentioned for a new BMW.

MACO ($380) and Training Fee ($180) = $560

Both line items will show up on your invoice after the M3 is delivered. On my 2009 M3 order the MACO Fee is missing since it isn't built yet. Look up a 2008 M3 Invoice for an in stock car and there it is...MACO.

What is MACO? BMW NA -- Marketing and Advertising Costs.

BMW NA Charges you ~$400 so they can do TV commercials, magazine ads, and billboards and there is actually a line item in each car Invoice for it. Is that the craziest thing you ever heard? Imagine if Apple had a hidden charge like that on Mac's and iPhones and iPods.

BTW....Two BMW dealerships quoted me different prices for the M3 MACO.
One was TRIPLE the other...

Aloha,

BTW The itch has been scratched...

2009 e90 M3 Sedan Interlagos Blue with Fox Red Leather and DCT/Tech Pkg is awaiting Week 41 Production.

See Philippe Kahn at Southbay BMW. Great CA and the price was agreed to in two notes like on Name that Tune. He ordered my car from Germany before I even put money down, right in front of my eyes. Deal was done in less than 60 minutes.

Aloha,

If you ordered it for an ED pickup, you would not be paying the MACO or Training Fee, according to one of our board sponsors. Plus I'm told those fees are only added to Invoice+ type deals, not MSRP- deals. I was going to go that path, but decided to just pick it up at PCD
