Lease 335i or M3?

Hi, I'm new to the site I'm currently leasing an 08 Acura TL. I'm looking to lease either a 335i or a M3. How much of a price difference am I looking at? I plan to go to the dealer in a couple weeks to see my options. Thanks

Well considering that the M3 is about 1/3 more in price, you can expect a roughly 33% higher lease payment.

I dont know about 335i's, but m3's lease anywhere from $900/month to $1,300/month.

335i is in the range of $600 to $800 a month.

My 335i was: $47000 MSRP, $10k down (cap cost reduction), $437/month for 36 months 12k miles/year.

Anyway you look at it, MSRP for M3 is always $20k more than msrp for 335i... that makes M3almost twice the car....

MSRP is always negotiable. To get dealers invoice, go to www.truecar.com

$10k is indeed quite a lot for cap reduction. The lease payment does not grow proportionally for the M3 because you also need to consider the residual value for M3 is significantly lower than a 335 (~54% vs ~62%). I would consider MSD (multiple security deposits) to lower the MF rather than putting $ down.

Not to mention the MF is much better for the 335i too. 4.3% vs 5.88%
Not to mention the $1500 Gas Guzzler tax for the M3 either... :-(

2010 BMW 335i Sedan
24 Month – Residual 66% of MSRP – .00180 Base Rate
36 Month – Residual 60% of MSRP – .00180 Base Rate
48 Month – Residual 40% of MSRP – .00245 Base Rate
60 Month – Residual 35% of MSRP – .00245 Base Rate

2010 BMW M3 Sedan
24 Month – Residual 54% of MSRP – .00245 Base Rate
36 Month – Residual 49% of MSRP – .00245 Base Rate
48 Month – Residual 38% of MSRP – .00245 Base Rate
60 Month – Residual 32% of MSRP – .00245 Base Rate

So in reality 335i leases are $600 range , M3 leases are in the $1200 range.

P.S you can go to BMWUSA and build each car and it will give you an estimated lease payment.

Here's what I got for NYC

Stock 335i Sedan 3 yr/36KMiles $594/mo
Stock M3 Sedan 3Yr/36KMiles $1087/mo

Really, thats a big gap.. I'v seen people lease for as less as 700$-800 a month. Maybe they just got lucky? I went to the sell forum and members are also giving away their leases for even in the 600's(http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=336620) I guess they just got lucky. Nevertheless I'll go to the dealer in a couple weeks, most likely I'll get the 335i and just tune it etc.. if I cant find an M3 in my price range. Thanks again for the help guys.

People were able to get good lease when BMW was offering market support & lease support (inflated residual) for the leftover cars. If you are looking for a brand new ordered car or a 2010 it is not going to happen yet.

Me included. Oh the days when dealers were giving away left over '08's cos they had too many. I got my M3 for $554/month with 3K down and 3 MSD's.
Those deals will prob' never happen again.

Yes indeed there are quite a few lease takeovers around from others that got those deals too.

P.S if Euro Delivery is an option for you you could probably get into a new stripper M3 lease for $700+-ish/month

I wish I knew about MSD to lower MF at the time of signing the deal... stupid ass dealer would never suggest something like that, he'd rather get all that cash upfront, commission on the spot... I wish I knew about E90POST at that time, so I would learn...
...oh well, you live , you learn...

Last Jan. when I was looking at 335i's one dealer in San Diego (the one that sold me my current 330i at the time) flat out swore that it wasn't possible to use MSD's, even his Sales manager said they couldn't. I called BS big time and dumped them, within 30 mins they were calling back, "Oh, sorry our mistake, we just clarified with BMWFS and it's OK".
Yeah, right, I never went back to them.

Admittedly most people who walk in off the street wouldn't know anything about them. M3/E90Post FTW, tons of valuable/essential leasing info/tips.

Yeah, but I've gone through about 3K in tires and another 3K in gas in the last year 14Mpg average, and I track/autox the car.
