M6 = grand tourer, gas guzzler, sexy v10 sound
M3= balanced sports car, lighter, tighter, newer.

My choice was a car that can do well at the track versus a cruiser. They're very different cars intended for different things
M6 is a really fast car, but not nimble and quick feeling like an M3. You know the weight is there. But both are great cars to own |

They're completely different cars. I wouldn't compare them.
The M3 is the better car based on what I like. Drive them back to back and see what you like more. People argue cars way too technically on this sub-forum (I don't have to name the three people, you can probably guess their names). It's more than just numbers.

It's not an error on your part. Any M3 owner would need a pair of binoculars to see the M6 in a head to head race on the street. Maybe they're close in 1st gear, perhaps 2nd (like many, many cars are), but 3rd gear up it's bye bye.

Maybe not as much difference as you'd imagine.

The M6 has a couple more luxury options, larger interior (at least the front), more exclusivity and a more powerful engine. The M3 is lighter, handles better, get's better gas mileage, can have 4 doors and revs higher. The bigger engine is nearly a wash with the lighter weight such that both cars have near the same acceleration. I like 4 doors, handling, I'm not huge and the options in the M3 are plenty. When given the choice, I'll take better gas mileage too if all else is the roughly the same. |
