M3 Track Day

I took delivery of my M3 middle of September and am doing my first track day later this month at Spring Mountain Motorsport Ranch. I'm coming from a heavily modified Infiniti G35 that would require a lot of support, in the form of tools, oil, etc, that I would need to bring to the track.

Basically I'm just wondering if my completely bone stock M3 needs anything for a track day? How good is the stock brake fluid? Worth it changing it out to ATE super blue or just keep it for now?

I'm not yet ready for tires, etc. As far as I know the M3 in its stock form should be GTG for 1-2 track days a year? Thoughts?

Go have fun! Your brake pads will suffer before the stock brake fluid. Stock tires, whether Conti or Pilots, will have you thirst for more grip once familiar with the M3. Enjoy!

I had a TT G35 previously..man that was a pain to prepare lol.

They are such a balanced setup in stock form, you will be speechless I am sure. Do you have 18's or 19's? EDC?

19's w/ competition package so yes I have the EDC as well. I'm assuming the best setup is with tracking off + EDC on full?

I liked a little more roll when running 19's, thus middle EDC. 18's have a great flex feel and feels better with EDC in full sport. All personal preference.

Take it as is. Maybe do a brake flush since your fluid is probably older than 6 months. Its cheap and better safe than sorry.

Pre-tension seat belts. EDC in normal or sport depending on track. DSC in MDM until you get better, then DSC off. Have fun and be safe!

Thanks guys! I'm not new to driving on the track and what is required for the car, just new to the M3.

If that's the case, this car pretty much rocks out of the box. For 1-2 track days a year, would just worry about brake pads and fluids, but that's only if you plan on pushing it a bit. A bit more days and could use some camber up front and maybe some stickier tire. I do about 20+ days a season and leave on my 19's with AD08's, so dedicated track tires aren't that important, as tire tech has really improved. Just go out and drive, you'll figure out what you want/need

If you say you know your way around the track I would at the very minimum change the fluid. Stock pads are not very good for any kind of fast track driving. I know when I go to the track I don't want to be held back by equipment so I would add some good track pads as well, but that's just me.

Unless you're self-insured (i.e. loaded), seriously consider HPDE/track insurance. Relatively cheap peace of mind, IMO.
