Just received my 2011 M3, and because I was mislead I am missing some features.
My client Adviser mislead me on a few things and because of that I am missing some key features I wanted.
I told him I wanted to have blue tooth in the car, so he told me since I was getting the tech package, that the nav included it. Additionaly I told him that I wanted BMW assist, the SOS button, and when I asked him about it he said, don't worry about it, all M3s come with it. And now that I have my M3 I have neither handsfree or the assist button. big bummer. Is their anyway I can have it installed or is it too late? |

Now, does your car have the iPod adapter? The 6FL option has actually a fully functional Bluetooth module as part of the USB electronics, it is just not enabled in the USA. With the OEM microphone, BT antenna and Autologic coding it could be enabled and will work OEM as well as the TCU. Search for details at e90post.com, I read there that somebody did enable it. |

No freaking Bluetooth on a $70K car? Damn, that's unbelievable; even the cheapest Hyundai has it standard now . Where the hell is included? Tech or premium? Never bothered to ask about it on my car since it had every available option, but never imagined it was optional.
If you ordered a 6MT, I'd demand it. The Assist is not that huge of a deal IMO, especially with BT. If there's no signal there's no assist, and it'd only make a difference if you crash in the boonies and can't dial 911 yourself. With the keys (even without CA), you can't lock yourself out unless you really want to, so that unlocking service is useless IMO. The only time I used Assist was to set it up. I wouldn't miss it for a second. But BT was a must for me, especially with a manual. Good luck, and keep us posted. EDIT: I think Assist can only locate the car with a court order, but I'm not remotely worried about that not being a DD. Last edited by JCtx; 05-08-2010 at 04:06 PM.. |

Assuming that you are in the car then you'll be able to tell them where you are.

"I won't own a car that can be tracked remotely"
Kind of paranoid eh? You realize that your basic location can be tracked by your cell phone right? Bluetooth with BMW Assist is a stand alone option, and included with the Premium Package. Just so its clear to folks ordering; Technology Package: EDC, MDrive, Comfort Access, Navigation, Voice Command, RT Traffic info. |

But back to my point (and more along the lines of this topic), there is no good reason BMW couldn't include Bluetooth without Assist. As far as I can tell, it's just an excuse to squeeze more money out of people by requiring options x and y to be able to use z. |

Listen if you have an accident they will not be able to locate you, this alone is worth it's weight in gold, back heel it and get what you ordered.

Not to threadjack but I felt like it was somewhat on topic...
If you order premium package but not the technology package, do you still get BT and BMW assist? Or do you only get those options if you have the technology package/idrive as well? |
