Lightbulb Spied: E93 M3 convertible facelift

As reported on M3post homepage.

Spied for the first time here is a facelifted E93 M3 convertible. The biggest exterior cosmetic change so far appears to be new LED tail lights.

Just a rough guess, but from looking at that mule picture it looks like the M3 won't get the headlight LCI update.

I'm ok with that.

I hope so..then one can get the pre lci with the minor 09 interior updates to the IDRIVE etc for less than the full 2010 MY price, and just do a swap of the tails!

I dont se the point of having LCI vehicles camoflaged. It makes no sence unless there are major interior changes (engines/ electronics etc.). Slapping on a new nose or in this case only tail lamps defeats the purpose of having a mule in the first place. The only reason I can think of is that they want press coverage and fans to drool over the new shape/ style etc.

I think because it is a European market vehicle is why, pretty much all the other markets in the world besides the US already have the PDC sensors in the nose... who knows though...

indeed, this is a standard option here in Europe, on almost every descent car. I really love it Am surprised in the States this is not available

BMW kind a felt a sleep, I think. They make fantastic cars but the LED tail lights should be part of 3 series for while. They would complement the great safety features that BMW already has.

History repeating itself, the e46 did not receive the LCI headlamp update either...

and

Neither did the e90 M3, however, it did receive the LCI tail-lamps.

They were on LCI e46 coupe/verts, however, when the e92/e93 was released, they disappeared. I always figured they would re-appear on all LCI e9x vehicles.

Honda did the same thing with their previous generation Honda Accord, the face-lifted models received LED taillights, but when the next generation Accord was released, they went back to bulbs for pre face-lift. I would lay money we'll see face-lifted Accords with LED tail lamps in a few years...

My thought is that it must be less expensive for initial costs when building/designing a new car to go with non-LED. Since they budget money for face-lifts, it must be beneficial, financially, to switch to LED at that time.

so true and ESPECIALLY why do they find the need to coveer the BMW roundel, and even the M3 on the trunk. Anyone who would even notice the car (because they care enough to) will most likely KNOW that it is a BMW M3. Covering the badges is completely pointless.

Slammed, Ive got an even better one for you. Why do they even put the badges on in the first place. If a car is designated to be a mule, just leave that stuff off...

I also agree that there is 0 reason to have a mule if the only change is the tail lights... What are they testing the durability of the new lights? I have a feeling they have their tail lights down by now...

Also, I did notice it has black kidneys and black trim. Not sure if this is an option on EU cars.

I bet there is some legal issue that requires them to cover the roundel... when you get down to it on almost everything there is a legal issue...

...chunky nose evolution of all cars...side markers.... hood modifications..

Agreed. This is annoying. What the hell could they possibly be testing?
