Considering selling the ///M.

How much am i looking to get for it realistically? I love the car but i just feel it's holding me back from saving up the amount i want to. I am only 21 and have been saving a good amount the past couple of years but want to be able to save even more and buy a house in the next couple of years. And i barely drive the car now so when i graduate in May i'll likely never touch it.

08 E90 M3 ALPINE WHITE
Premium package
Black leather - aluminum trim
Technology Package
Cold weather package
19's ( bought after i bought the car)
Blackline tails
Black front grill

Car has about 4500 miles...I don't drive it too much. Car is in excellent condition as well, front bumper just has a couple of scratches on the bottom but the car is practically new so the paint etc is all in excellent condition. So how much would i be looking at? And no flaming for being so young with this car etc etc...i bought it knowing I could afford it and I can, but i'm loving the housing market right now and i want to invest rather than just looking flashy with a nice car. I'm just not crazy about cars the way i used to be.

Typically,

One would get better responses in the for Sale section

What about making a "feeler" Thread?

BTW: We have done with without your story, But i guess some background
information is important. Would a potential buyer like to hear this?

Check Ebay to get a good idea

Seems that it is now easy to get 10K off new convertibles and 7K off coupes and sedans. Unfort you and all 2008 E90 owners are victims of one of BMW's trick fux. Meaning after the first model year two VERY significant things were drastically improved, the iDrive and the fugly taillights. I saw a low mileage E90 break the 50K barrier, was priced at around 49995. Another reason you may have trouble is that you have the Tech Pkg and no upgraded sound. BMW structured the M3 pricing pretty much so that you either had to load it out or buy it stripped or possibly with the 19's and premium pkg only. The 10 spkr system is horrible compared to the enhanced sound option and many buyers love their jams. All this will most likely combine to really screw you on resale, that combined with 08's still on dealer lots being drastically discounted and being offered with 0.9 financing. Sorry for all the negativity, just giving you my 2 cents, others may disagree. On the bright side I do think your color/trim combo is excellent. Also given all the first year probs with DCT the 6MT may help you...you will find out soon enough.

+1, Sedans will get hit harder than coupes due to the updated tails.

yea i understand those things, especially with the economy, but I do think i could probably get $50K for it. I'll have to check it out. I'll definitely lose some money on it but i expect that.

I just bought an '08 sedan with similar miles (the 6K+ savings over new was too much to pass up for the color combo I would have gotten anyways).

I got it for 54K including dealer fees.

Just under 4500 miles. Local trade
Jet Black / Black Leather / 18"
Tech
Prem
Cold
Window shades (this is a nice option since I have a recent baby)
En Prem Sound
Sat radio
USB/iPod (sort of, they told me it had it but didn't so they are going to dealer install to honor the deal)
Clear bra

Hope this is a decent point of reference.

Investment 101: Never buy an expensive new car and then turn around and sell it a year later.

You just threw away a big chunk of change. Ouch.

Autotrader.com haas sold my last two cars and all were in about an average of a months time. Companies will call you trying to sell you car, but don't take them up on it b/c it is a waist of time and money.

as someone who just sold a higher end F car, I can tell you buyers are almost completely absent .... you will have to cut your price drastically to attract offers. Be prepared to be shocked and have very low expectations coming in....

Hey maybe, I'll start trading like that guy that started with a paperclip and ended up with a house 2 years later. Except my goal is a M3.

wow manny hadn't seen this thread...I'm sad your thinking of selling but happy your selling for a good reason, everyone has made some valid points so I don't have much too add, good luck on the sale and good luck finding some investment properties...

SO true. car loses 10-25% of it value in the first year. my numbers maybe a little off but i am sure that it goes down real fast in the first year of ownership.

Unfortunately, the hardest thing about buying a house right now is getting financing! Make sure you have that set up.

ive been crunching numbers and it's just not worth selling the car right now. I'll pay it off in the next year or two and snatch up an investment property in the next 2 years. I still do love the car and the fact that it's the last NA engine ///M makes me want to hold on to it even more. But i still don't drive it enough

Yeh, its bite the bullet time, pay your car off and buy your investment property. I don't see the market improving in the near future so you have time to still get a good deal on a property in the next 12-18 months.

I the mean time enjoy the ride!
