Skyline Run VIII - April 28th
Meeting location will be at Stone Ridge Village Center, Stone Ridge, VA 9:30am
Sat Apr 28 Route: http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msid=...32074,0.748444 First stop on the route: (go here if you get lost!) 33735 Snickersville Turnpike Blue Ridge, VA 20135 If you get lost after that, go to Melting Pot Pizza in Front Royal and we'll see you there. Check it out DC: Skyline Run Meeting Location: Stone Ridge Village Center, Stone Ridge, VA Usual spot behind the shopping center. The cost of this event: Free. All sport/supercars are welcome. Number of cars to expect (based on previous runs): 25-40 Total length: Around 80 miles with an optional extra 50 miles of back roads for the drive back. Time: Around 2.5 hours. 4 if you take the back roads back. Route: Will be released before the event. Will not include Skyline Drive. This run will be similar to previous runs. The first half of the drive will be fast, lineless, twisty back roads. These roads usually have very little to no traffic which means we can be very 'spirited'. We'll start out in the usual commuter parking lot behind the shopping center in Stone Ridge at 10am and drive down some of the most beautiful roads in VA until we get to Front Royal, VA. Lunch will be at the traditional Melting Pot Pizza (cash only). The run will end there for me as I have to head to Strasburg. I need someone who is willing to lead the second half, let me know and I'll give you the details. The route back from there is on smooth, pretty roads, with bursts of speed depending on the locals. This will bring us all the way back to Stone Ridge, VA where we'll stop. Simple rules: Don't speed on main roads. Don't cut blind corners. Slow down on blind hills. Pictures from this route:

This sounds great; definitely interested!
Anyone who has participated in the past: what has the police presence been like? I imagine a long line of Ms gets a little attention... |

I suggest we designate a spot in the parking lot to meet. At the Fall run there was some early confusion if people were late or we were parked in the wrong spot, etc.
I attached a suggestion, but John please feel free to overrule me on this one. |

I recall some d-bag trying to show how amazing his m5 was and tried to race a gallardo on the main highway. Going triple digits with pedestrian cars around was not very smart indeed. |

I'll be there. I drove the route 2 days ago with another M3 and it was great. Went down 50 to Middleburg, left onto that great backroad to that elemtary school and then found another great road out there. Used 55 to 17 north to hit 50 again and then took that awesome road from 50 to route 7. Such a great route!
With that being said, and the fact that I'm probably going to drive the route again, I guess I could lead the second part back if you guys need me to. I also just bought two way radios. |

That's fine, I'm leaving this one open to all sports cars, not just euros. Hopefully the turnout is around 20, if it's more like 40 I may need to alter the route or split us up.
