TPMS Reset Question.
Hello. I just got After market wheels with 2010 TPMS in it. But the vehicle had the same exact tail lights that I have on my 08! I
I installed the wheels. When I was driving TPMS Malfunction light came on the dash and also to idrive. And then I came home and tried to reset it when the car is OFF. So it says Resetting and stays like that! First Question Do I have to start the car for reset process? And also I connected to ISTA. I got the errors due to TPMS. I deleted the errors. And then I look at the TPM module with ISTA. ISTA sees the temperature of the wheels, How many bar and psi on the tires! So that shows me there is TPMS and OBD can see them! So whats going on? Thank you!

They should work with the car off. I would put some more tires. I use the tire inflator machine that comes with the car, or look at the vin sticker on the driver side door. I would inflate, drive around and reset the TPMS. See what happens. Could be the TPMS is faulty

The first reset with a set of newly installed TPMS can take quite a bit of driving. Hit the reset in your iDrive when stopped, and drive around...Mine took about 14 miles to finally go all green.

TPMS sensors are different between 2008 and 2010 model cars.

I know of no way to make sensors from a 2008 car work with a 2010 car, sorry.

I do know that 2010+ TPMS uses only one receiver instead of 4 each corner! has anyone tried this? Thank you!

My question will be since my vehicle is 2008, it has been almost 8 years. Should I replace the tpms instead of swapping them? Or it is worth since have a low millage on them? (36k). What I read was they usually go bad after 6 -7 years. I will be upset if they go bad after 4-5 months!
And what is the possibility of rebuilding this TPMS? has anyone ever tried?

Only my worry is hope they are going to replace the tpms without any scratch or problem I ve heard not everyone can do a good job on custom wheels, I told them to use plastic tips when you are removing the tires.
And you are welcome

Ideally, you'd find a good wheel shop you can trust. Years ago, I used to use local Discount Tire shops. However, one of them gouged up my brand new factory wheels--huge, deep gash on barrel from obviously removing wheel weights with a metal tool. When I pointed it out, they claimed they were only supposed to use plastic tools. Ultimately, they wanted to repair the wheel instead of replacing it as they should've. I gave them another chance. They did the same thing. Never again. Now, I trust _all_ my wheel work to my local independent wheel guy. He's never damaged a wheel even once!

SO I am extremely happy right now. And the TPMS that I got worked like a charm without programming. Now I have 2010+ TPMS for sale
