OEM Exhaust Mod Summary - Bay Area...place & price

All, I am about to pull the trigger on doing the OEM exhaust mod, probably the ACM way.

Anyway, did the search and have the following...pretty sure this is not all in the Bay Area. Hope this is useful to others and ping me if you are interested in some type of group buy when we can land on the same shop.

1. Minute Muffler, Dublin - saw a quote of $150 and less than half day (wow)
2. Todd & Exhaust - apparently, it's a minimum 2-day turnaround, but great work
3. Guaranteed Mufflers & Brakes, Fremont - apparently, need to see the car for quote...thought all OEM exhausts are equal
4. Exhaust Works, Belmont - think I saw $250-$300 from some posts before

Feel free to add more and correct me. Guess it's almost a no-brainer to go with Minute Muffler, even if they are a bit out of the way.

Anyone lives or works between Mountain View and San Jose? Would actually love to hear ACM mod in person...I had the experience of going with an aftermarket exhaust in my old 996TT that was simply too much. Benefit is that I got to talk to a lot of neighbors that I never talk to before...

Hope this helps.

Hi! I'm getting mine done this Friday at Minute Muffler. I was quoted $150. It will take about 2 hours.

ACM way is way too loud for me. 2 years later I am still incredibly happy with my exhaust modded by Todd the first way with the replacement pipes.

2 & 4 I think it's the same guy. That's who I had done. I went ACM.

Sean, I thought your exhaust was louder then mine when I heard it a couple of weeks ago. I thought mine was quieter than yours. No drone, very happy with the way it turned out. Now, just need to paint the muffler itself. Huge pet peeve right now.

Fwiw, I was WOT in 2nd gear when you heard it, not partial throttle. And these cars are always louder outside than inside, and louder outside than you realize while driving due to the nice BMW insulation

The way I have it done is a bit quieter than the ACM method. We'll compare the next time the cars are side by side.

I knew you did that pull right before you came into the parking lot

Yes, we'll have to compare it next time.

Wow $150 really is a great price. Anyone in socal that can compete with that price?

Great. Where are you located if you don't mind? Would love to hear it first...gotta be a bit more sensitive with a 1 year-old at home...

Check this out !

I've done this by myself for the price of 10 euro's ( 8 USD ) and 1 day
of work ,it's now 3 months ago and it sounds each day even better(0 drone )
Exhaust opened on top ,and replaced only the large perforated pipes by
full stainless steel pipe with 2,5 inch(63,5 mm) diameter, and put the
glass wool back in.
Now my ///M3 comes to live...and sounds....amazing !!!
I've already posted this pictures, and here they are again.
Do this....and do it now.....believe me guys.
And what do you think about this ???

I don't know where the OP went. I know a few guys went to Minute Muffler in Dublin and had good results. Smmmurf I went to Todd at Exhaust Works in Belmont and very happy with the result.

I have the ACM method and Smmmurf had the perforated pipes replaced and I think both sound loud. I found it hard to tell the difference between the 2. Smmmurf actually thinks his is louder than mine. If you ever come out to a drive/meet. You're welcome to hear my exhaust.

Costs $150 to $250 depending on where you go. Here's my exhaust.
