That was my first thought when they mentioned ejection plus I dont see a seat from the angle of the photo either....... What a shame and a senseless loss of life, God bless the family and may the driver rest in peace.

WOW!!!! RIP!!! its sad to see a fellow m3 owner down.. this is a serious accident, crazy how the tree looks like it barely moved from an impact from a car at high speeds....

I hate seeing stuff like this on the road. I'm like the anti-rubber-necker who looks strait ahead and puts the blinders on.

Speed lots of speed or lets hope that was the case, if it wasnt were all riding around in the equivalent of a wet cardboard box which I seriously doubt. A small Oak like the one hit has incredible tensile strength and at high speed acts just like a sharp blade. Again very, very sad may god bless the family and driver.

That's a shocking image. Such a bad way to go and a total waste of a life. The owner of that car had modded that car very tastefully too. Keep it safe on public roads fellas.

The link has been updated with information on the driver. He was wearing a seatbelt but they did not say an estimated speed.
Be safe out there.

on a positive note, i'd say the guy died doing the one thing (or one of the things) he enjoyed the most, like the rest of us i imagine: hauling ass in a nice car... he was lucky there was no one else around...
if i had to pick the way i wanna die, that'd be it right there... Note: i am not suggesting speeding on public roads is safe or smart, but most of us do do it, sometimes it goes unnoticed, sometimes, well, sh** happens... RIP fellow enthusiast |

If you want to play race car driver do it on a track and get proper training.
The sense of entitlement that I see in some of the responses here is both shocking and disturbing. "Everybody does it", "The car feels like it is on rails", "He died doing what he loved", "somtimes sh1t happens", etc. There is no excuse for driving at the speed this guy was obviously traveling at on public roads, and to make matters worse he had apparently been drinking. It is inevitable that this type of behavior will eventually lead to tragedy. As tragic as it is to see a young life wasted it is fortunate that he did not take someone else with him. A car, and particularly a car as powerful as an M3, can be lethal. I am sure that this is nor the first time that this driver had done something like that but up to today he had probably gotten away with it. He was obviously driving well beyond his capabilites. The vast majority of drivers who are capable of handling an M3 at the limits on public roads don't enagage in that kind of behavior. I know many professional race drivers and every one of them drives very conservatively on public roads. In any case my sympathy goes out to his family and friends. He was somebody's son and possibly a brother, husband or a father. It is over for him but the people who loved him will be devasted for years to come. CA

I remember the RS6 incident. And then there's the infamous Stefan Erricson (sp) Enzo crash as well:
Surviving an accident that rips your car in half is definitely an exception. Please be careful out there, gents.

OMG, its an JB M3 ZPC with CF spoiler ans splitters. I am afraid there was such an M3 on here. Very sad. It may in most cases be his fault, but most of us do the same, so the same can happen and we never expect it.
RIP. |
