Stoptech ST40 Calipers repainted.

So I decided to buy a new F & R ST 40 355 kit but I didn't like the red calipers.. Here are some pics.

BEFORE:

Paint Stripper in a can...great stuff, the paint just wipes off after you let it sit for a few minutes.

Several coats of Primer, then paint, then M decals, then gloss clear and finally 20 minutes in the oven @ 200F.

The red will not be visible once everything is mounted.

I used VHT Burnt Copper paint, it's supposed to be good until 550F or so, hopefully I won't have much of an issue, as it will be street driven and don't forsee track time or if anything, very limited. I've seen some people use this paint on calipers with no issues.

hopefully you prepped the area before applying the VHT. the color turned out well. great job.

any reason why you didn't use G2?

Fully prepped and scuffed to make sure primer would adhere properly. I've used G2 in the past with great results, but their lack of stock color options was the main reason. If this doesn't perform as expected long term, I will go with G2. They can mix custom colors at an additional cost but I would have to provide a paint code.

Yeah the raw look is really great. Holy shit that might be what I do next with my stoptech calipers.

I'm not sure if the untreated metal is going to tarnish, corrode, or look shitty after a while. I think the best solution is to just have them anodized or powdercoated/painted silver.

**UPDATE** kit installed.

Sorry for the crappy pics, it's filthy! Didn't wash it yet.
Used Posi-Quiet pads, great for street use and hardly any dust.

That color reminds me of the OG NSX calipers:
