Not saying the OP does this, but I see way too many M3 drivers in the homeboy driving position. Seated way too low, too far from steering wheel and probably the pedals. No way to control throttle properly at that position.



An M3 a performance vehicle, not an El Camino or Fleetwood.

When I first got the car, I wasn't used to the throttle and the car would jerk a decent amount.

So, I forced myself to leave the POWER button off until I got used to the car. After a few months, I started using the POWER button again and haven't had this issue again.

OP, you'll get used to it.

I agree you should get the latest software- I had what was supposed to be the latest and had 2nd gear lag and bucking but then had the "recall" update and both are totally gone.

However I find the rate of bucking is HIGHEST in regular throttle setting as it includes a small dead spot at the start of pedal travel that confuses the driver even more. I trained myself to work the throttle better by leaving it in super sport! Worked well then I backed down to sport. BTW the Dinan tune greatly improves linearity of throttle response and this helps too.

Well, as much as I love to tease the DCT crowd , this is NOT a DCT-only issue. But it's only an issue when cold, at least on my 6MT. And it has NOTHING to do with the driver. I blame it on the lack of MAF sensors. Without precise air/fuel ratios (engine operates on open loop until it reaches certain temperature), that's what happens. Furthermore, it happens when I shift to 2nd, and I go either too easy or too hard on the throttle (always on 'power', which is the throttle response I'm used to for ages). And the higher I go on the revs in 1st, the least likely to buck. I can consistently get the car not to buck at 3K rpm in 1st, which is not that bad even when cold, but prefer to go easier than that on my engine (2.5K). I get the bucking only like 1 out of 10 cold launches, and only the first one in the morning. NEVER when hot; it's perfectly smooth at all throttle openings. It'd definitely bothered me if that behaviour remained when at full operating temperature. Good luck man.

Thanks for post... and all the responses!!! I actually thought I was the only who this crap happened to (in a very busy corner and lots of people watching). It was terrible! Well, I have noticed that it has to do with the foot pressure and mostly when the engine is cold (did happen to me with a warm engine). Anyways, I'm still trying to get used to the car like most ppl in here. Thanks again!

I just went thru this for the first time since I bought my m3. I thought my car was about to blow up. I turned off the car quick. LoL that really scared the crap out of me
