EDM Has become a movement

Im sure some of you already know this but its amazing how big House/Trance has become in the US. Here in our area theres always some artist(not the biggest) playing at the hot clubs. I remember when people used to give me shit for listening to this music, now they are the ones going to more raves/clubs than me lol. Yeah some do it mainly for the drugs and to get girls but when I go, its like meeting a celebrity to me. Im there for the music and its always nice when my friends come along.

Personally my favorites are Kaskade, deadmau5 and Morgan Page. Theres still a few more I want to see. Im not crazy about dubstep but some of its ok

Its pretty exciting to see these artist have a residency at the Vegas nightclubs. Ive seen Kaskade at Marquee several times and its seriously blows you away. Found some interesting articles.

you guys on the west coast are lucky to have Kaskade as a resident DJ closeby. I went to his show at Roseland Ballroom and I already can't wait til he comes back to NY again.

Seeing Kaskade is amazing. seeing him at Marquee is just out of this world. you have to be there to understand. he plays for a 5 1/2 set!

EDM is becoming HUGE for sure. 240,000 attendees at last years EDC and 2012 is predicted to be even bigger. somewhere around 300,000 i've heard.

But, I saw avicii and deadmou5 at the petco stadium for halloween and sorry to say but he SUCKED. Avicii definitely killed it. I left early after deadmou5 came on because of how boring he was. Didn't like his style at all.

BUTTTT EDC 2012 BABYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY !!!! Soooooo excited

I cannot wait for EDC. I cant believe i missed the first year it was in vegas

Uh yeah i was there too but I gotta say that was the most amazing stage ive ever seen. I like his style and music. Of course a ton of people were asking me what the song was when he playing, so they were just there for his "mainstream hit".

I would have been able to catch all of Avicii but the dumbasses at LED will called all the tickets. that line was bullshit

I have to agree with you. I may be somewhat of a noob to EDM, but no stranger to music. I have been talking about this for a while now. I believe David Guetta kind of opened the door for mainstream collaboration and people like Afrojack and Calvin Harris have followed. Songs like Pitbull's "Give me everything" and Rihanna's "We found love" seem to be the direction of these mega DJ collabs with mainstream artists.

I've never gone to anything close to EDC. Are these events safe? I almost got nauseous looking at the amount of people and what would happen in case of a fire. lol

Yeah I dont like Guetta at all. hes a sellout. Afrojack is fun but he played that song twice when i saw him. Calvin made a good beat and all i had to do was extract that tricks voice out. Its sad what its going too but LUCKILY we still have artist that dont go in that direction.........yet.

Ive never seen a problem besides your usual drunks and people getting caught with drugs. Theyve gotten ALOT better than the years before. Some girl died at EDC 2010. she was 15. Candy flipping and all kinds of shit . Thats why the city of LA told Insomniac "get the fuck out of here" and they went to Vegas. Now its 18 and up. Idk about a fire but theres lots of room

That girl actually went to my school.

But after that happened, I believe EDC reported that their event in las Vegas brought over 136million dollars in revenue. Including hotels/food/gambling & stuff. Crazzzyyy !

To be honest, I think EDM starting picking up right around EDC 2010 which was last time it was held at the LA Collesium. There was so much news coverage and people were all talking about it, ESPECIALLY with some of my friends who were really in to it at the time.

The drug culture is huge yes, but to a lot of people who are just getting into it now. NOTHING compares to the atmosphere and general mood of the thousands who attend these kind of massives.

Oh and yes, some of my favorites: Avicii, Kaskade, Dash Berlin, Above & Beyond, Pendulum, Bassnectar.

Those three are a few of my favorites as well. I've seen Kaskade and deadmau5 live, but unfortunately I missed out on Morgan Page who was just in town.

Without a doubt EDM blew up in the past few years. I went to Ultra last year and it was one of the wildest parties anywhere; this year that concert sold out the first round in an hour. Now it has been announced that there will be a change of venue due to the expected attendance record.

Guetta is pretty meh.

Kaskade + deadmau5 = winning combo.

Also A State of Trance rules.

It is getting bigger, but since 95% of kids that go there to roll their balls off, I don't consider the whole US EDM movement explosion "for the love of music". I found a VIP section to be much better in that sense, more mature crowd and most were just drinking.

Well at least no one died at EDC 2011 which, considering a 240k crowd, is VERY impressive.

Cus Insomniac changed it to 18 and up finally! and overall only 40 arrests. Very impressive indeed

See this is my point. If it's impressive that nobody died at a party that's too intense! I'm not strong enough to push 240k people off of me in case shyt gets real.
