My order has finally made some progress. It went to status 150 this morning with an estimated production date of August 2nd. I'm guessing this is when production is completed, as there appears to be a few steps involved. It also has a VIN now, although neither the production number nor the VIN work for registering an account on the BMW site.

Mine says "car is in production with an estimated completion date of July 31st", so I'm guessing your car's production begins on Aug. 2?

This info comes directly from the SA, not the 800 number. I can't get the automated voice on there to give me much info at all, and I haven't tried talking to an actual person on there yet.

Here's a portion of the information he's sending me. It appears to be copy-pasted directly out of the order tracking system dealers have access to:

Status Description Date Time
150 Production started 7/23/12 7:29:04 AM
151 Entry body shop/serial # assgn.
152 Entry paint shop
153 Entry assembly
154 Assembly
155 Assembly finish /quality check

Production Dates: [Yr/Mo/Wk]
Quota [Yr/Mo]: 2012/08
Req. Prod: 2012/08/31
Sub. Req. Prod.: 2012/08/31
Conf. Prod.: 2012/08/31
Est. Prod. Date: 8/2/12
[Mo/Day/Yr]
Act. Prod. Date:

I'm not sure why it would say production started today, but have an estimated (begin of) production date of late next week. I guess we'll find out in the next few days or weeks

Based on that, it does look like a completed date of Aug. 2! My info was from the 1-800 number.

Any idea how long (approximately) before it shows up to the US? I have a bunch of mods on my 335 that I need to remove and it will take some time.

Thanks
Would like to know as well, our cars finished production on the same date!

I had an 09 and traded it in 2011, but at that time there were 150 coupes that you can choose from, but not now. I am happy to be back in the swing with 2013.

that they cannot schedule me until the EPA and CARB approvals are completed. So close and yet so far.

You truly are lucky to be in this position! I will gladly trade you my minivan and SUV, in fact

06/09/12 - placed order and deposit for 2013 M3 Coupe
06/12/12 - received production number
07/13/12 - vehicle production completed
07/24/12 - vehicle in transit (on the boat I assume)

sorry for the gaps in time, I only found out about the 800 number 2 days before my car was scheduled to be completed at the factory.

Cool! Mine is now at the port awaiting a shipping vessle. Yours will likely take less time since you are East Coast where my boat has to go through the Panama Canal.

Just got an update today from my CA - "154-Assembly". He expects it to be completed tomorrow then on a boat within a week. 4-5 weeks before I'm driving it home (hopefully!)

Haven't seen this before but I have a printout with some assembly codes:

150 - Production started
151 - Entry body shop/serial # assigned
152 - Entry paint shop
153 - Entry assembly
154 - Assembly
155 - Assembly finish/quality check

That's as far as my sheet goes.

Thanks for the codes. The 1-800 line in Canada can just tell me it's in production, no other information. I'll try asking them if they see any of these codes on their computer or something...

What is wrong with BMW's website? I mean really! My BMW never recognized my production number. It recognizes my VIN, but then won't list the car and so I can't track it online.

Yep, now I have to keep harassing my SA for updates every few weeks until the site decides to work.

I ended up using the 800 number for status updates. The website never worked for either number(production/VIN).

Just called the 1-800 # today and finally got some update on my car. After about 3 weeks, it said my car is in production and has a scheduled completion date of August 6th.

This excitement is gonna kill me...

Random question, does anyone know when the 2013's will be up on bmwusa.com? I keep checking out of curiosity and they're still 2012 which seems silly considering the 12's are no longer being built obviously.

I agree with tbone, they need help for their website! Canada too - in Canada, we don't even have a website (for orders) to begin with! lol

It seems like they don't update the "build your own" stuff until the new year cars actually start rolling into the dealerships... or at least that's what I've seen in the past.
